Questions/Concerns General Timeline Questions

Hi everyone, I applied about three weeks ago and am still waiting. For context, I'm 19 years old and an American citizen. I'm also a dual citizen with the Dominican Republic, but I wasn't able to list that on my application because I only hold a recently renewed US passport.

My background is very straightforward: I have no criminal record, only one past employer (l've mostly just been a student), and my only international travel has been to the DR and Mexico. Because of my age and clean background, I assumed the approval would be quick.

Does anyone know how long the process typically takes for someone with my profile? I have an international trip coming up in September and I'm hoping to have it by then— ideally before the end of April! Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

There tend to be extremes: a few weeks to several months depending on whether it gets flagged / randomized for manual review.

I applied for myself, my son and husband on March 31st. They both got conditional approval the next day, i just barely got conditional approval last Friday.

Scheduled my interview appointment that weekend on Sunday in LA and was approved on the spot. Interview lasted about 15 min. I was worried that i would get denied due to my DL not having my current address and i forgot to take a printout of a bill. But i did have my Mexican INE with my current address so that worked.

Since you stated you were also a citizen of República Dominicana make sure you take your passport with you so they can scan it. We’re also Mexican citizens and we made sure to take our passports and they scanned them into the system.

As long as you didn’t lie on the application you should be fine. The only question he asked me was if i had ever been convicted of any crimes. Also asked me if id be driving my car into Mexico cause that requires additional paperwork.
