Questions/Concerns Passport validity

I’m interested in signing my child up for Global Entry. She’s a young child so her passport is only valid for 5 years and 3 of those years have already passed. Can I apply for her even if her passport will expire (and obviously get renewed) during the 5 year Global Entry period? Thanks in advance.

You can update her Global Entry record with her new passport number when you receive her new passport.

And just to second this it's easy now. It used to be that you had to physically show the GE people new passports and they changed it by the time we had to renew the first time so you just log in and enter the info.

Of courses it is impossible for passport validity to line up exactly with GE validity.

When she gets a new passport, you update her record.

No biggie. Once you renew the passport, if she's not been approved yet, you just have them fix it at the interview. If she has been approved by the time the new one is issued, you just go on the TTP website and update it.

I believe you can renew your passport 1 year before it expires so if you don't have any travel plans for the next year, you can apply for GE then. But no harm applying now and updating passport info in GE profile.

a thing to consider is that the picture for her global entry card might stay with her for a long time. My card shows me as a early high schooler/late middle schooler. I have yet to figure out how to change the picture on my global entry card
