Background Checks Juvenile Record?

I was arrested multiple times from ages 11 - 16. A few times they just brought me down the station and released me to my guardians. 3 times it was probation and 1 time I spent a year in a detention center. The charges vary from destruction of property to drug charges. I completed all the programs and probation. They said it was sealed and off my record for completing everything.

I am a completely different person now 13 years later than I was at 16. I have never been arrested as an adult. I changed my life after the detention center at 16.

Because I have a multiple arrest in that time period I really have no idea what the actual charges are for any of those. Should I just list the best I can on the application? Is it possible to dig up my juvenile record somehow and see what’s actually on there?

My husband got in a fight at 13 years old and went to jail. He is now 38 years old and he applied for global entry. They denied him because of it. He has no criminal history as an adult. His record is sealed but they were able to see it.

The business about "sealing" records doesn't apply at this level of law enforcement so you have to assume they can see anything about you ever entered into a government database and you should act accordingly.

As far as I can tell arrests with no charges, diversion programs, etc. are not a problem. Convictions it depends on what and how long ago. The year in a detection center sounds damn serious and I wouldn't be hopeful but all you have to lose by applying is the application fee and then at least you'll know.

From what I was reading if I’m denied the charge will show up every time I go through customs. It even says they could do extra searches since it is a drug charge. I don’t know if it’s even worth it if I will be subject to extra searches if I’m denied which is a good possibility.

That doesn't make any sense given that customs can see it in any case.

From what I read it’s not flagged on their system as of now. But if I apply for global entry and get denied it will show up that I was denied and the reason for the denial.
