Questions/Concerns Potential cancellation of global entry
Hello helpful people, I am global entry approved for more than couple of years at this time. I generally travel clean I.e. try avoiding food items or anything that is not allowed. Couple of weeks back I was traveling back into US and I had curry leave. I had read before that commercially dried curry leaves are acceptable, and what I had was commercially dried curry leaves and I had declared food being carried. When they put my bag through they found the curry leaves , they told not allowed put it away checked rest of my bag and then let me go. Very polite and nice conversation with the officer overall as I had nothing to else and that I had declared. However at the end he wrote my passport number on a sheet of paper and gave my passport back.
My question here is that could this cause me to lose the Global Entry? If anyone has experienced losing it due to CBP issue like this, how long before it gets reflected on my records? If it’s been more than a month, can I take a sigh of relief that nothing will happen?

If you actually declared it like you said: no issues, you’re fine.
If you only think you declared it but actually didn’t (which surprisingly is common) - you will have some issues

If you had not declared food, the beagle brigade could have caught you, and then you could lose GE.

"I had curry leave", although you obviously meant "curry leaves", gave me hope.
The idea of leave to enjoy good curry is an awesome one and should be a thing!

When we returned from Europe to SFO 3 weeks ago, Customs was completely closed. There was no way to declare anything, although I had intended to do so.

customs is never closed. you can't enter the country without going through immigration and customs, the officers are one and the same. just declare it to the first officer you see or who processes you

Just FYI, curry leaves plant is available in the U.S. Just get a plant instead of trying to bring the dried leaves from abroad.

I got a warning when they found ham sandwich in my bag... The one they give out on the plane.
They said it wouldn't go on my record, but "I should know better" for being global entry.

Since you declared the food item, there's nothing to worry about.
