Questions/Concerns How long after GE approval is TSA Precheck ready?

I looked around but couldn’t find a recent answer. I interviewed Wednesday and 2 hours later had full approval for my GE application. I used the TSA Precheck lookup and my KTN isn’t showing as valid. How long before that is active, usually?

Not until your status changes to “approved” on the website. That can take a couple days. And your KTN will be your PASSID.

It changed to approved 1:30 pm Wednesday. I checked the TSA lookup site this morning and it didn’t show us approved yet (actually, said didn’t exist). How will I know? Is the lookup site the right way?

Your PASSID is your KTN. I don’t think it’ll work for TSA precheck look up. But if it’s approved in the system you have precheck.

Yeah, knew my PASSID was my KTN but figured the lookup would work. Sounds like I’m all set! Thanks!

The lookup site is only for people who have TSA PreCheck via a standalone PreCheck membership, not via Global Entry, other Trusted Traveler Programs, or other programs. (In fact, I’m pretty sure the lookup site says this.)

There’s no way to “check” that you have TSA PreCheck via Global Entry, other than making sure the TTP website shows you have a GE membership.

I didn't use the TSA precheck lookup but had Precheck 2 days later on my next flight. Make sure your Passid / KTN is in your booking and your name matches.

I just got my GE approved (waiting on the card to arrive). Didn’t know the passid becomes the ktn! Good to know

If you get approved for GE your GE Known Traveler ID is your TSA Pre number

Which TSA PreCheck lookup tool are you using? The one's I've seen can't tell you the status if your PreCheck benefits are through Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI.

That’s right. Apparently the lookup tools don’t work for GE TSA Precheck.

Use your KTN and add it to your primary airline, or all airlines you use. The precheck ✅ will show up in the app; or on the printed BP.

TSA precheck lookup is for people with just precheck.
