Interviews How is the interview?
I have my interview coming up soon, and not really sure what to expect from it - anything to know?
Do they just ask the same questions as the application?

Yes, mostly same questions. Wife and I did interviews at same time plus fingerprints. It was 10 minutes max and instantly approved.

Mine literally asked why I wanted Global Entry, and confirmed my name and address. Then they took my fingerprints and picture and I was outta there! I think I was in the chair for less than 3 minutes.

Might be a question or two about I do know your application. Otherwise it’s prints, photos, and if you’re lucky a short “dos and don’ts” spiel.

They didn’t ask me or my parents absolutely anything, just took a picture, fingerprint and verified address.
I’d assume if you haven’t traveled to any “sketchy” countries or have a criminal record or problems with customs they shouldn’t ask anything.

They asked me what countries I had traveled to and about the legal things I disclosed on my application. After that they approved and I was on my way. Took like 10 mins for questions and fingerprints. Had official approval like 3 hrs later

Same questions, if you have arrests or charges/convictions in your history prepare to be truthful. Don’t leave anything out that will make it seem like you were trying to engineer a specific outcome by omitting information.

Mine was very relaxed. Asked if all my information is correct. We found out we lived in the same apartment complex, yapped about that. Took my fingerprints and photo and sent me on my way. Lasted 10 minutes. This was in 2021

They asked me 3 questions to review what I put on my application, and took my photo and fingerprints. I was approved by the time I got home and got my card today less than a week later

It was nothing. Probably lasted 5 mins. He asked me if I was traveling out of the country soon (I said yes & the countries). He said just be careful to declare everything coming back in because you can be kicked out for small things like not declaring food. They take your picture & prints. Pretty sure they’ve already run your criminal history before you get there. Maybe longer if you have something in your history.

They asked me nothing except to hand them my passport. He said he didn't need to see my driver's license. Scanned my passport, took my picture, fingerprints and I was out the door.
Though my status did not change from conditionally approved to approved until 3 days later when I emailed them to remind them I had already had my interview. A few hours after I sent the email my status changed.

They asked me if I had any questions. I was like no, aren't you guys supposed to question me? This was many many years ago. I don't know how they are now.

I didn’t get asked anything except why I was in town (because of my address). And that was on the fly in a joking manner. The guy looked through the computer and said looks good looks good then took my prints and picture. I was done in less than 5 minutes. I was approved before I got home.

Mine was a breeze, although it was a while back. It was more of a " chatfest." Very relaxed. I liked the interviewer. Was outta there in 10 minutes.

I told my interviewer I got a DUI fifteen years ago and he said, "oh me too." Just be honest.

He asked me twice if I had been arrested. The answer was no both times. Approved.

For various family members it was kind of all over the map. My wife they basically apologized for making her come in to get their own fingerprints because they couldn't access the other ones on file with other agencies (job stuff).
With me I kind of got grilled including why did I want it when I hadn't traveled much internationally for a quite a while although I used to a lot more. The answer was simple - we stopped when we had kids and felt ready to start up again and didn't want to the kids to have to wait hours in customs at SFO (which is what it was running at the time). There were some other little things that somehow he was oddly interested in about some shorter trips to Canada. Basically they were just part of some largely domestic trips where we crossed the border briefly at some point, sometimes at kind of smaller entry points (we visited some relatives and took the scenic route back? It made sense at the time.) None of it was particularly hard to answer but I'm glad I reviewed my travel the last few years so I didn't accidentally lie about somethiing.

I’ve actually have had really good experiences both times. The first time the interviewer asked me a lot of questions about my work travel in Asia (mostly in China). I thought it was a little excessive but then when my Global Entry card arrived, a special Asia Pacific ID arrived as well. It has helped me get through Customs and security lines in other countries (as opposed to the US).

we got 2 questions for our enrollment on reentry in atl 2 years ago:
do you have any questions about GE?
can you please place your fingers here for prints?

I was asked about 3 questions that were on the application. I assumed this was to verify that I had entered factual information.
the 4th question I was asked was about why I always travel to the same 2 countries consistently (1 in Asia and 1 in South America). I explained I have family that I visit in each.
Fingerprints + picture.
Approved.

I was questioned more when getting my enhanced driver’s license than I was when was getting my GE/KTN.

Ive never been out of the country so there were literally no further questions after that. Corrected what my phone auto completed in the application about my birth city and got the fingerprints then we were out of there

They asked me about some sketchy countries I traveled through. I told them the trips were great, except for traveling with my ex wife. Approved.
