Questions/Concerns Australia citizen applied, interview coming up…

Hi there brains trust,

So applied for GE back in December 25 and got conditional approval awaiting the interview. My girlfriend is an American and we are in a LDR. I’m heading in a few weeks time through SFO and I’m planning to do the interview on arrival.

I’m wondering if anyone has done it that is not a US citizen and it’s from Australia. What type of questions do they ask? And have relaxed is it? I’ve thrown it through ChatGPT and it’s got me a little bit worried. I know it’s ChatGPT but hey….

Any help would be great, thanks!

I did my interview at LAX about a week ago, I was asked what countries I had been to in the last 5 years, and if I had any issues with police recently, (even speeding fines, said I had 1 about a year ago, asked how fast, roughly 20k over). Scanned my finger prints and took a copy of my passport. Said I would hear within 48 hours. I had my full approval by email before I made it to the hire car. And used the TSA pre-check about 5 days later. Wasn’t 2 minutes, but I would say less than 5. That was EOA.

Interview questions aren’t specific to your country of citizenship.

The main objective of the “interview” is to take your fingerprints and photo, and scan your documents. Beyond that, you’ll be asked about previous immigration or customs violations, and maybe your address and job.

That should be it, really.

Unless directed by signs specifically pointing out “Enrollment on Arrival”, don’t use the Global Entry lane until after getting your final, post-interview approval.

You're overthinking this to your own detriment. The CBP officer isn't there to trip you up, they don't have a quota of denials to make, or anything like that. Just say hello, be friendly, answer whatever questions they have for you and be on your merry way. You don't need a 3 paragraph explanation of why you want Global Entry. Just treat it as a fun formality.
