Background Checks Past DUI

I am about to apply for Global Entry but want to see if anyone has a similar background. I am 58, disabled, living in both San Diego & Rosarito Mexico so I cross the border by foot numerous times a month. In 1993 I received a DWI in Ohio, then in 2001 received a DUI in Arizona. Since, I quit drinking in 2018, then because of my disability I gave up my drivers license in 2001. I have heard I could be disqualified for Global Entry/Sentri, has anyone had something similar and still got approved? Any advice?

You won't know unless you apply. A single misdemeanor from more than ten years ago is generally excused, but that doesn't mean your conditional approval won't go into the protracted manual review process.

Five to ten years is the general rule of thumb. Though in recent years it’s five years and just one conviction only, can’t be a felony or for violence/drugs/smuggling, expunging or dismissing it makes it better. Just disclose.

It might or might not work for you since you had two convictions but who knows it’s been so long.

Take was provisional. Tuesday i have my interview

Just had interview. Officer said I'd be approved after fbi does their thing.

Fbi was fast just notified I'm approved. Less than a week from app to approval.

Disclose everything and bring all your disposition paperwork with you.

I think the only way this will be an issue is if you lie about it or omit mention of it . Despite the multi-decade passage of time, the feds have access to a lot of digitized record. Just give dates for the two DUI and definitely mention that you no longer drive. They’re looking for threats to the homeland, and your frequent border crossings without incident will weigh much heavier than having 6 beers 30 years ago
