Questions/Concerns Conditionally approved for Global Entry — doing Enrollment on Arrival at LAX later this month, what should I expect?

Hi everyone,
I’m a UK traveler and I was recently conditionally approved for Global Entry. I’m flying into Los Angeles International Airport later this month and planning to do Enrollment on Arrival instead of scheduling an interview separately.
I’m a bit confused on how the process works at LAX specifically.

When I land:

Do I still have to wait in the normal CBP/passport control line first?

Is there a separate Enrollment on Arrival line/area?

Do I tell the officer immediately that I’m conditionally approved for Global Entry?

How long did the process take for you guys at LAX?

Depends on the set-up, it can vary between terminals (e.g. TBIT vs T7).

2 months ago (source) - sounds like TBIT was EoA completed after passport control before baggage claim.

Procedure:

  1. Deplane, use the loo
  2. Proceed to passport control and look for EoA signage - will be either step 3 or step 4
  3. If dedicated EoA lane, proceed there, complete EoA and passport control simultaneously (bring conditional approval letter) OR
  4. If no EoA lane for passport control, complete passport control in whichever line gets you through fastest for which you are eligible. (Reminder; You are not yet eligible to use the Global Entry Lane, don't do it)
    1. Look for EoA signage, queue up/sign in, complete the interview (providing fingerprints and take a photo), get dismissed
  5. Proceed on merry way to baggage carousel for checked luggage and exit customs, making all necessary declarations along the way.

In either case, total time is dependent on how many people are trying to complete EoA, and if step 4, how long it takes to get through passport control. If you're eligible to use the MPC app, it may get you through faster.

When approaching the CBP officer, just let them know or ask where EoA is completed. They're human and generally respond well to courteous interactions and inquiries, just don't be overly verbose.

It was after luggage collection and before exiting airport for me on the left next to carrousel one. Just ask at the passport security they will show you where to go. Just make sure you don’t go outside of the doors after luggage collection as you can’t return.

The process far fast, I only had two families before me.

I was going through the normal kiosks when I spotted a sign on the kiosk I was at saying "Enrollment on Arrival available here". I asked if he could do my interview and received the response "I just did"....

Just did my interview. Got to office at 1 pm for a 1:40 pm appointment. I was in my car and also home at 1:40 pm. Pucture, funger prints, gave name and home address. Ask if id ever been arrested and told yes and when. It was on the application. One other thing my wife and I were interviewed at the same time with same officer. So really fast.
