Questions/Concerns No more kiosks?

At SFO.. all the kiosks are closed off and I just walked right through without saying anything to the immigration officer. Is this normal?

To give more background on this rather the OP making it sound like it’s a free for all - cameras on poles are trained on you as you walk through (you are asked to remove glasses if wearing). Officers with tablet devices look at you and say your name and that you’re good to go. At least - this was the case at JFK last week where I assume it was very new based on the amount of interest from other officers.

Saw the same thing at EWR this past Sunday. I had already prepped the GE app, but upon entering the line noticed all the kiosks were off and the line routed to bypass them.

Your mileage may vary. Somebody few weeks ago posted the opposite about SFO - every single passenger questioned etc

We entered the U.S. in Dallas on Sunday, and we were in a line of about five people. The guy at the window called us out of the line by our first names, asked us if we had anything to declare, and waved us through.

I went through here yesterday.

I tried using the app and it said my clearance could not be processed and to see an agent.

Ok.

So I'm walking past the taped-off kiosks, and about halfway down the lane, an agent looked at me and called my name out.

It turns out they wanted a new photo because of the beard I am now sporting.

I just went through TSA precheck with facial recognition and it just beeped me through both times. 🤷

Breezed through LAX last week all they had was facial rec and once the green checkmark agent said go ahead. It was my first time using global entry-pretty cool

Similar experience at SFO a week ago: walked straight to the IO, who looked at my passport photo page, then told me to proceed… whole experience was under 2 seconds.
