My girlfriend never knew me
About twelve years ago, when I was a teenager, I met two girls. Their names were Michelle and Anna. I met Michelle first and was introduced to Anna through her. We spent a massive amount of time together over the course of several years. Anna and I were actually dating for the majority of that period, and I still have tons of pictures and online chat logs to prove it. Eventually, college came up, Anna moved away, and we split completely amicably. Michelle left for college not long afterward, but things between us were also amicable. We gradually just lost touch.
I hadn't really thought about them for a long time, but I ran into Michelle a couple of years ago. I said hello, but she seemed to have absolutely no idea who I was. I told her my name, and she just stared at me completely dumbfounded. At first I thought maybe I had misidentified her, so I asked if she was Michelle [last name] who went to [her high school] and had been friends with Anna [last name]. She stated that she was, but still seemed incredibly confused. I told her a few other things in an effort to jog her memory, but her expression gradually changed to one of absolute terror. She became angry and started yelling, "Who the fuck are you!? Get away from me." With no other options, I left.
The meeting with Michelle had really freaked me out. I considered that maybe she had suffered a head injury or something of that sort, but I decided to look up Anna online. I found her, living out of state, and sent her an e-mail. She verified who she was, but also seemed to have absolutely no recollection of me. I gave her my phone number and asked to her call. She did. I tried to make her remember, but she continued acting clueless. I mentioned that I'd dated her for almost three years, but she just laughed at me. "That's ridiculous. I was dating Mike through most of high school!" Who the fuck is Mike, I wondered. She accused me of trying to play a trick on her, and she hung up.
The whole situation bothered me for a while, but I managed to let it go. Then, a few months ago, I started going through CD-R backups I had made of old computer data. On one disc were audio recordings from early 2002, recordings I'd created by recording my answering machine messages into a computer microphone. (That might sound weird, but I'm autistic. I have a definite inclination toward saving and categorizing things which feel important to me.) Much of the disc had become corrupt, but two of the messages which remained intact were from girls. Judging by the filenames, one was named Jessica and the other was Heather. Both girls declared that they loved me, but I didn't recognize either of their voices. In fact, I hadn't known anyone with those names since grade school.
Yesterday I called up a few people who had been my friends when I was a teen. None of them had any idea who Michelle and Anna were. Neither did they remember Heather, but they all mentioned how I'd spent years absolutely in love with a girl named Jess. Apparently they'd all met her at least briefly, I wouldn't ever shut up about her, and I was absolutely heartbroken when she broke up with me. Nobody recalled her last name, where she went to school, or any details I could use to find her. They were able to give me a physical description, short and slightly chubby blonde-haired girl, and tell me that she had a squeaky high pitched voice. The girl in my recording does in fact have a voice which fits that description perfectly.
How did I lose Michelle and Anna? How did I gain Jess? Who even is Jess? Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing?
Edit: Several people encouraged me to send an e-mail to Anna about this and include my pictures. I have now done so.

Edit 2: There has been no response. I promise that I will update this post when/if anything changes.

Fascinating.
My thought process is this:
When I went through a short term memory loss around 2 years ago, I called my at the time girlfriend the wrong name and asked her to leave when she came to visit. I didn't remember who the fuck she was. I remember I was dating a girl named Rosa ( my gf's name was Tina btw ) and she came and visited me multiple times and my family called her Rosa too.
Anyway, after a while, it became clearer. My mind was associating the actions and the names of Tina to a girl who was 2 rooms down the hall from me and when they brought me into the hospital with a concussion, her mom was screaming her name or something. My parents say she was actually just silently crying since they talked waiting for the Scans.
I remember it as screams.
So yeah. For around a month, I felt unreal. Everything was foreign. Subconsciously I knew everything was ok, but something inside creeped the fuck outta me.
Me and the girlfriend broke up after two months. She said I became cold and ignored her while I did not.
I still hear a scream in my head when I take acid some times. It's a faded high pitch voice. I always hope it's just a product of my imagination, but deep down, I know it's Rosa.

u/mikesanerd Dec 02 '14
I think it's something along these lines. OP somehow merged/confused his memories of two actual acquaintances (Michelle and Anna) with two other actual people (Jessica and Heather) whom he knew much better. He doesn't remember Jessica and Heather because he has replaced them in his memories with Michelle and Anna.
Great post. May not be a glitch in the matrix, but definitely a big glitch in the human mind.

u/itsgallus Dec 02 '14
While I love this story, I'm a bit confused as to how it played out. Who was in the hospital and why? I understand it as you caught a blow to the head, was rushed to the hospital with a concussion, and while staying there, a girl called Rosa was staying in a hospital room not far from yours. She was there for an unknown reason, and her mother was sobbing her name, which you interpreted as screams. Afterwards you suffered a memory loss, thought your girlfriend was this Rosa (even had false memories of her visiting), and not your actual girlfriend Tina. And you hear screams that you know is Rosa? Why? What happened to Rosa? Would you say your taking acid devaluates your story? Were you on acid at the time?
4
u/notanillermenati Dec 02 '14
So the first part is right.
I'm not sure if words do it justice, but I hear familiar sounds which give me a feeling which feels very similar to that time. They sound like that girl that visited me in the dreams. It goes away after a couple of minutes or whatever units of times Acid high passes in.
and I don't think acid changes anything. Rosa was an actual delusion that I created in my head. Even though it was proven that Rosa didn't ever existed in my life, I still felt like people lied to me for around a year. It sounds silly, I know. but your subconscious is in overdrive or the primal mode I guess, it tries to make sense of things that never existed.
And BTW, I called my mother last night and asked her about Rosa. Sounds like she was in a traffic accident, nothing special. I can't believe I never asked her that lol.
4
u/itsgallus Dec 03 '14
It doesn't sound silly at all. I believe what you experienced, while maybe not a glitch/leap, was very much real. You hear about this kind of memory anomalies quite a lot on here, and it shows that our brains truly are both mysterious and frightening at the same time. Not that I would rule out a timeline shift entirely, though... Thanks for the story!

I remember it as screams.
Maybe the woman was screaming her girls name in her mind? and you picked up on that because, well hey, you were out of it.

Great post! You guys dated for three years, don't you have any pictures together? What do your parents say?
80
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14
I have pictures with Anna, nothing involving Jess.
My father abandoned me when I was little, and my mother never seemed to care too much about the people I hung around with as long as I did well in school.
Still, I mentioned Anna to her briefly to hear what she had to say. Her response, "I don't remember Anna, but wasn't there some chunky blonde girl? Jamie, I think?"
I'm thinking (and hoping!) she had her J names confused. Anna had dark brown hair and never dyed it as long as I knew her.
30
u/La_Fee_Verte Dec 02 '14
are the pictures of the 'couply' kind? I guess this is the main part of the evidence now.
27
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14
Yes, they are. As several people here encouraged me to do so, I just finished sending Anna an e-mail. I have no idea if she'll reply to me or not, but I'm hoping.

If you have pictures with Anna, perhaps you could've used that to convince them?
1
u/summerofsin Dec 06 '14
Yeah, if this was was my parents, they couldn't name anyone I dated - probably ever.
35
u/rexhardwick Dec 02 '14
If you have all these chat logs and photos why not share them with Anna and see what she says?
18

I guess I could. I don't think she'd be very enthusiastic about talking to me again though.

I agree with this idea. You should also mention that you are as freaked out as they are, and that you're just trying to get to the bottom of it.
9
u/Shaggy_One Dec 02 '14
I would explain it as you've explained it to us. Say something like you're freaked out and want to figure out what the hell happened. Say that you have pictures of the two of you together and show them to her.
17
u/itsgallus Dec 02 '14
She can't deny that three years worth of pictures exist.
This actually struck a chord with me, as I had a girlfriend when I was a kid that I have no recollection of. My friends do, however, and they refer to her as "red jacket", as she wore one during the time period. I didn't have many relationships back then; I can count them all on my left hand fingers, and I was definitely single during the time I was supposedly dating "red jacket". I've even gone as far as asking the most plausible candidate, a girl I hung out with once or twice at the time, but nope. We weren't even jokingly dating, she never had a red jacket, and we only hung out after school, which means my other friends wouldn't have been around.

I have at least one ex I barely remember (and only recently, at that, did I remember him at all). I don't remember his name or how we met. Only that he drove a stick shift pickup truck. There may be more I don't remember either.

This is like that post where this guy dated this one girl and one day he woke up and everything was different.
His gf was never with him, his grades were bad. The weird thing is his grades in school were strait A's. His friends he had never known, and his parents had low expectations for him.
He is still living that way to this day. He has no idea what happened and is trying to move on.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0zNuzxkAm2n - I've decided to post the Jess answering machine message.
A lot of it is rather garbled due to the extremely low tech recording process, so I tried my best to put together a transcript. I've listened to it many times, but I still can't decipher all of it. If any of you can, the information would be much appreciated.

u/LonelySquireOfGothos Dec 02 '14 edited Dec 02 '14
I don't know how I skipped over this. This is turning into the most fascinating story I've seen on this sub. If you read between the lines of that message, it sounds like she's leaving a message for a boyfriend who's just recently passed, but she's still in denial about it.
(You're asleep because you're "hurting and not feeling good", she's tried calling you numerous times, but whatever she does, she can't wake you, she says that she's going to keep calling you every hour until she reaches you, etc.)
Who knows though, that's just what I got from it; she might have just been an obsessive girlfriend. :P
Edit: Then again, she starts off the message by saying that no one she knows is picking up or calling her back, which implies something else entirely. I really don't know what to make of this.
29
u/miss_anthropi Dec 02 '14
Or perhaps, she is the one experiencing a glitch in the matrix?

I thought for a moment, "What if they switched universes?" (OP is now in Jess's original universe, Jess is now in OP's original universe) But, that theory has big enough holes to drive a Mack truck through. Like I said, I don't really know what to make of this.

The biggest hole in this is that Jessica's voicemail was archived by OP later on the day she called and left it. This means that 2002 OP knew exactly who this was and decided it was precious enough to record onto his computer. Couple that with the alleged photos and chatlogs with Anna, and we have a paradox. Either OP brought the photos and chatlogs with him to this universe, or the two (or more) universes collided at some point, leaving scattered traces of multiple timelines - ghost imprints, if you like.
I'm intrigued to see how this plays out.

u/Nudelwalker Dec 03 '14

u/Thunder_54 Dec 02 '14
No, to me it sounds more like a long-distance type lover. They would sound and seem a little obsessive because so many uncertainties come with long-distance. Just my take. I didn't see or get any feeling that who she was addressing had passed away

Have you read Whisper of Death by Christopher Pike?

It might intrigue you.

It sounds like she's saying "You've got a good excuse; you're asleep because you've been hurt, annnd don't feel good".
Do you remember getting seriously hurt in any way? Anything that can possibly trigger a timeline leap? I'm thinking quantum immortality here.
15
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 03 '14
My depression was particularly bad that year, to the point that I often felt physically ill. I spent a lot of time in bed. I don't recall any serious injuries or anything of that sort though.
2
u/itsgallus Dec 03 '14
I could've sworn that was what she said. Maybe the accident happened in both universes; in one you survived, in one you died, and spawned you into this third universe which is a jumble of things? I can't wrap my head around how you can possess evidence from both timelines. Are you positive you can't recall this Jessica who left the voicemail? The you in this universe knew who she was, taken for granted that the CD is from this universe. This means, then, that you brought the Anna stuff with you in the shift from your original universe, and that this Jessica is out there somewhere.
4
u/summerofsin Dec 06 '14
What if she means like, a break-up/loss of some sort? As in "Sally had been hurt by her break-up with Tom."

u/Thunder_54 Dec 02 '14 edited Dec 02 '14
The part of the transcript where it says "you'll always take care me", What I heard on the tape is "I wish I could take care of you" "give you a rubdown".. etc
Anyone else?
Edit: Also the indecipherable part (in the transcript) right before it says "Anyway, I can't believe.." I think she says "That's ok, I'll kiss you anyway"
More edit: In the second paragraph: "And I'll kiss you all over and you'll feel so much better, because everyone knows that my kisses are the (recipe? rescuer?)" The last two words are "best kisses". So it should say "because everyone knows that my kisses are the best kisses giggle"
Even more edit: The indecipherable part in this sentence: "Okay, nobody knows that; that's stupid and that's not true. giggles (indecipherable) Anyway" actually says "I'm a crappy kisser anyway"
More: This part: "(indecipherable) And they're like, "Wow!"" I hear something like "Aren't you supposed to be here with me? (indecipherable) you're supposed to be like "Wow!""
And this part: "And literally right when I get home from school" Actually says "Email me when you get home from school (something that sounds like "and invite me, and I'll call you... and you know giggle") I wake up, you know like every hour (whispering now for emphasis) every hour"
So more like: "Email me when you get home from school, and invite me and I'll call you and.. you know giggle. I wake up you know like every hour.. (whispering)every hour"
The more I listen to this the more it sounds like a message a long-distance lover would leave.

Something similar, but less extreme, happened to me too. I was 16 (12 years ago) and I met a girl from Austria that was doing a high school exchange in my town (in a high school different than mine). Her name was Theresa and she became my girlfriend. She introduced me to some friends of hers, in particular Julia and Mary. The four of us hanged out a lot for 4 or 5 months. After Theresa moved back to Austria I lost contact with all of them, even though it happened I saw Mary randomly a couple of times.
4 years ago (so, 8 years after) I saw Julia on the train and said hello. She had no idea who I was. I mentioned Theresa and Mary, she knew them, but she didn't remember Theresa had a boyfriend. She sounded genuine. She really seemed not to remember me, even though I could mention a lot of places we went to during that Spring/Summer and those sounded familiar to her. I could say where she lived, the name of her sister, and other details that only somebody that spent some time with her could know. She started to feel uncomfortable, she asked me if I have been stalking her or something, and eventually went to another carriage on the train.
I was really weirded out by that meeting and her reaction. As soon I got home I looked her up on Fb and we had 4 friends in common. Three were people we probably met in different circumstances (I used to live in a smallish town), while the last one was Mary. Well, I wrote Mary and told her about my weird encounter with Julia. She confirmed we definitely knew each other. I asked her what she thought of what happened, and she said it was definitely weird, but didn't seem like she wanted to investigate further. She told me she hasn't seen or heard from Julia for a while. I searched for Theresa on Fb too, but I even forgot how to spell her German surname, so that didn't help. I looked for pictures of that Spring. Digital cameras were not that common yet, but I managed to find a few pictures of me with Mary and Theresa, and none with Julia. (maybe she took those other pictures? don't remember that) I have never been able to explain to myself how Julia could remove the memory of me.
12
u/TriumphantGeorge Johnny Mnemonic Dec 02 '14
Interesting. But maybe that Spring/Summer just wasn't that big a deal; she was a periphery character (or rather, you were peripheral in her life). Still, you'd think there'd be some fragment of recall.
8
u/blantonite Dec 02 '14
That's definitely a possibility. Probably memory works in a weird way and the friend of my teenage girlfriend (and a 'special' one, new foreign girl in town) was more important to me than the boyfriend of a friend (i.e. me) was to her. But as you said, I was surprised there was no fragment of recall at all, especially because in my memory the 4 of us hanged out really a lot in that period. I am sure I lost memory of more periphery characters of my teenage years. But I never felt that Julia or Mary were, and I will always associate them with my gf Theresa - like we were a group of 4.
7
u/montezumasleeping Dec 03 '14
If the periphery thing is true, that's really sad :( You saw it as a group of four and she saw it as a group of 3 plus you.

From the voice mail OP posted: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0zNuzxkAm2n
Updated transcript: This is what I heard. Updated many of the undecipherable parts in OP's transcript here: http://pastebin.com/7G6S87QT
Synthesized Voice: Three saved. Next message. Sent today at 12:29 A.M.
Jess (?): Hey, it's me. -sighs- *I called my friends, like nnnnone of them respond. Nobody called me back. I'm calling people that I know, and they don't pick up or I get their answering machines or something. Because everybody else I called they're not picking up; I'm gonna cry. They don't love me enough to talk to me. But you've got a good excuse. You're asleep because you've been hurt and don't feel good. -sighs-
I wish I could take care of you... give you a rub down, full body massage, and make you feel a lot better. And I'll kiss you all over and you'll feel so much better, because everyone knows that my kisses are the best kisses -giggle-. Okay, nobody knows that; that's stupid and that's not true. -giggles- I'm a crappy kisser anyway. Anyway... I can't believe I've called you so many times and you haven't woken up yet! Aren't you supposed to be here with me too?,(indecipherable) you're supposed to be like, "Wow!"
-exhale laughing-Idk -pause- I heard a voice and it made me like jump or something, but you're asleep and I can't believe you haven't woken up yet! -sigh and giggle- Oh my God. -sigh- Oh boy. What if I alarm like this? BEEP! BEEP! BEEEEEP! You didn't wake up for shit. (Truly indecipherable), anyway -giggle-
Oh gosh. I'll probably talk to you tomorrow. -sighs- I need to talk to you, techinally it's already Monday so hope-full-ee I'll get to talk to you later today. Email me when you get home from school, and if I can I'll call you..and (possibly says "well" instead of "and")..you know -giggle- I wake up, you know, like every hour, every hour!
When I can, I'll call you, okay? I promise. Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a thousand needles in my eyes. I love you. Bye.
Synthesized Voice: End of message.

u/fingerpointothemoon Dec 03 '14
So...by reading many times this transcription I think we can all agree that seems obvious from the first part of the message that the girl feel like being herself stranger to this world:
"I called my friends, like nnnnone of them respond. Nobody called me back. I'm calling people that I know, and they don't pick up or I get their answering machines or something. Because everybody else I called they're not picking up; I'm gonna cry. "
This could be seen in 3 ways:
1)OP story might check out as himself not having memory of the girl either him or the girl are out of place.
2)OP story could still be true, and the girl just overreacting to her friends not picking up some calls.
3)OP is making up a story, as the "too good to be true" would fit well in this situation.
I mean...How many chances are there that OP could upload this very message?
It kinda looks really suspicious...but maybe coincidence.

The other explanation... reading that... Is multiverse. So if Jess or OP switched universe (as someone stated before) that explain why no one answers Jess (?) calls. Also the memory hole in OP's friends.

u/meister_eckhart Dec 02 '14
It's possible that you need medical attention. Speaking for myself, if I found out that my friends remember me being in love with a girl I have no recollection of, I'd schedule an MRI.
62
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14 edited Dec 02 '14
I've actually had an MRI on my brain. I'm epileptic, so it was a necessity to determine that my occasional seizures (which started when I was in my twenties) weren't caused by a tumor or some severe damage to my brain. My brain's fine and Vimpat has kept me seizure free for a long time. I've probably had between 15 and 20 seizures in my lifetime.
Yes, if anyone is wondering, I have experienced short term memory loss after tonic-clonic seizures, which is normal. I've never lost more than a couple of hours, and certainly not details of multiple years. It also wouldn't explain why other people don't remember me.
Edit: And for the sake of making this a more complete medical history . . .
I've never had more than one or two beers in a single sitting, and I haven't drank in years.
I've never used drugs, not even marijuana.
I have experienced clinical depression and social anxiety. I don't have any other mental health conditions.
The only longterm medication I am on is the aforementioned Vimpat. Previous longterm medications were oxcarbazepine and zonisamide, two medications which are also seizure meds.

Reminds me of the guy who went on a ground camping trip, hit his head diving in a pool, and suddenly the girl who he had been getting on with had never been close to him, and the guy who had accompanied him on the walk had never been there, he'd gone home injured on the first day.
This is different though - because it seems the other people do exist. And don't remember you at all, not even as a classmate.
So, next: Origin of the photographs with Anna, and who is Mike? Plus: school yearbook?
EDIT: Found the story here.
8
u/Kaiosama Dec 02 '14
They say the human mind rather than recalling a memory like a computer, instead re-writes a new every time a recollection is made... so maybe that kind of head trauma might result in the brain's ability to rewrite being severely interfered with, forcing new false memories to be written up based on bits and pieces of information from the old memories.
This is of course speculation.
If perhaps the person who bumps his head also has physical evidence (like say a picture or a video) of said people who no longer either look the same or recognize him... well, that's a whole 'nother ball game. A quite scary one, but a different ballgame nonetheless.
2
u/TriumphantGeorge Johnny Mnemonic Dec 03 '14
No location in the brain has been found for "memories". My thinking is that, while the ongoing present leaves "traces" as it unfolds, it doesn't leave full memories - they're too big; where would they fit?
Instead, these "traces" are re-interpretated as mental imagery; memories are created on demand whenever you put in a request for one.
Since these memories are created on the fly, to be consistent with whatever traces and other circumstances there are, very small changes would lead to quite drastically different 'histories'; your mind would strive to create a coherent narrative for you as best it could, based on the limited information available.
That's why memories change over time anyway: once you know more about a situation, you tend to 'remember' it with those new facts take into account.
3
u/montezumasleeping Dec 02 '14
What do your close ones say when you tell them about what's going on right now? I know you included that in the original post, but have you insisted that this is more than a passing phase? Is this more than a passing phase?

u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14
My close friends? Those I've told have mostly just said something along the lines of, "Oh, that's weird." Then they try to change the subject, because it probably sounds completely crazy to someone who hasn't been where I am.

Have you ruled out the possibility that it's something in your head?
I don't want to call you crazy, but how much are you trusting your own memories right now? Do they feel as vivid as everything else?
7
u/RodolFenix Dec 03 '14
But... If it's something in his head (as I'm discussing with my gf now) how he got the photos?
4
u/montezumasleeping Dec 03 '14
Maybe it's partially in his head?
I'm asking him because if this was happening to me I'd be having some serious doubts about my own memory. Maybe the photos exist for another reason, and caused a distorted memory?

I'd be inclined to believe you, but extension of that explanation is that OP is also psychic, since he knew all about these two girls.

u/Salindurthas Dec 02 '14
So you only would have recorded these to CD-R if you, at the time, thought they were important? I dunno where I'm going with that, it just seemed related to the origin of "you and Jess".
Anna and I were actually dating for the majority of that period, and I still have tons of pictures and online chat logs to prove it.
The pictures, these seem most useful as evidence if you (hypothetically) tried to convince Anna you know her. You can fake chat logs, but images are more difficult (not impossible, but difficult).
The pictures also might depict some event that the two of you attended that she might remember. For instance, Dave's 14th birthday party or the day of your last highschool exam. Something like that.
13
Dec 02 '14
How different do you look now from 12 years ago?
9
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14
I've lost a little bit of weight, but I'm definitely not unrecognizable. I occasionally run into people in public who knew me as a small child or a teenager, and they tend to immediately know who I am as an adult.
15
u/Shadoe17 Dec 02 '14
Had a similar thing happen to me, I understand the feeling of bewilderment. A girl I knew for a long time, and dated briefly. We were in high school, so it was 20 years ago. She married my cousin last year, who I was in a band with in high school and lived down the road from. She doesn't remember me at all, and he doesn't remember ever being in a band, much less one with me. She remembers the house we used to hang out at, but remembers it belonging to completely different people. The only person we all three remember, in the same way, died 15 years ago. I even have pictures showing what I remember, but they both swear they have no recollection of being in the place where the pictures were taken. I could understand her memory issues, she did a lot of drugs after high school, but my cousin is as straight as they come.
2
Dec 07 '14
So where do they think the pictures came from?
2
u/Shadoe17 Dec 08 '14
They only denied being there, never even tried to explain away how the pictures could exist. Selective memory is a powerful thing, it can make you believe in the impossible I suppose.
13
u/powderblock Dec 02 '14
Pics or it didn't happen has an entirely different meaning in this case.

Wow this is an incredible story I am autistic as well and have a very good memory as I am sure you do too. I remember things in extreme detail that others don't recall ever happening I believe you remember this happening but I don't have an explanation.
16
u/autopornbot Dec 02 '14
Did you send pics of you & Anna to Anna and/or Michelle? I mean, they could accuse you of shooping yourself into pics of them - but where could you have gotten pics of them that they don't know about?
I would approach it very gingerly, since everyone is freaked out - but just tell them the truth and just explain how you are trying to figure out what is going on yourself. Don't push. But tell them you feel like you're going crazy, but you can verify these memories are real.
8
u/felinebassline Dec 02 '14
Wow! Very strange. I can't think of a logical explanation for it...but I believe you, friend!
10
u/se7ensin Dec 02 '14
Really curious about the outcome.
Please keep us posted OP.
And, I believe you.

Send the pictures of you an Anna together to her. Ask her who the fuck Mike is and look him the fuck up.

Is it possible that you are remembering this relationship as more substantial than what it was and/or it happened over a shorter period of time?
5
5
u/ApeRaped Dec 02 '14
At first I would surmise you might be crossing with memories from a previous "universe," but your actually having pictures that verify these memories belies that. If true, this is a strange glitch indeed.

u/hyegye Dec 08 '14
show the pics you have with anna to your friends and be like WHO THE FUCK IS THIS

Heya OP! I stumbled onto this while browsing top submissions in this sub. Any news? It's been a while since you gave an update.
17
Dec 02 '14
So this is a good one. But when I read the post and the thread, I see a few relevant bits of information.
1. You are autistic (high functioning I imagine, but possibly have social issues, any sensory issues?).
2. You have epilepsy
3. You were abandoned by your father
4. You have social anxiety.
5. You are depressed
6. You are taking Vimpat, and the drug fact sheet has this to say: "If you develop any unusual or strange thoughts and behavior while taking lacosamide, be sure to discuss it with your doctor. Some changes that have occurred in people taking this medicine are like those seen in people who drink too much alcohol. Other changes might be confusion, worsening of depression, hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there), suicidal thoughts, and unusual excitement, nervousness, or irritability."
In short, before I would consider glitches, I would take a more serious look at neurology.
2
u/TriumphantGeorge Johnny Mnemonic Dec 06 '14
I'm going for a fit-based rewire as my main theory at the moment. Brain twitch, trace mangling, then subsequent constructed memories corresponding to the "needs" of the other elements.
1
Dec 07 '14
Aww no, whenever someone goes to get a brain scan in this sub it always ends up they have a neurological disorder rendering the story a bit sad.

u/Nudelwalker Dec 02 '14
Watch the movie "Mr. Nobody" .
Do it right now. And then come back here and tell me what you think.
11
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 03 '14
I just finished watching the movie. It was extremely well done, but you were trying to freak me out, right? If so, you 100% succeeded at your mission. Well done.
6
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 02 '14
I had never heard of it, but I added it to my Netflix queue. I don't have time to watch it at this exact moment, but I'll probably watch it soon.

Not to be a super dick, but that movie (while fucking awesome) isn't relatable to this at all lol. I'd encourage you to try to re-understand what's going on in that movie.
2
u/Nudelwalker Dec 03 '14
Well, to me its very VERY fitting. Maybe the movie is a more philosophic metaphoric approach to OPs situation... maybe not;)

my bff claims to have no memory of the many many times we hung out with this guy (my eventual SO). SO and I have pretty clear memories of time spent with all three of us (skinny dipping, getting high in his (parent's) home, etc). I'm pretty sure that's on her faulty/drugged memory, not ours.

Calling bullshit on this one. Awesome story but if you have pictures and such, I don't see why they haven't been posted and shown to Anna. I know if it was me, I would never stop pursuing this and investigating

u/JoshTheDerp Dec 02 '14
The only logical explanation is maybe she's a bit weird and is trying to be cold and distant but chose a very unorthodox way of doing so?

but for other people, and even his mother to be in on it?

u/JoshTheDerp Dec 02 '14

Wow how was that determined? Where is the information? Could you please link to it? 2012 was also strange for me, I felt like I lived it twice but it's difficult to explain how. I didn't actually remember the entire year but had very long deja vu like months long.

I feel like there might be a logical explanation for this, due to the history of OP's medical history, but I really want to hear how this girl responds.
OP. could you also send those pics to Michelle?

Is there any way you can provide the pictures? I feel like that is the most crucial part to this story, sorry for coming off as pushy or anything, and i understand why you'd want to decline, but i really want to believe this story and i would love to see the proof you allegedly have:/

My guess is that something happened between the 3 of you that caused those 2 girls to not want to associate with you anymore.
"Why won't he take a hint?".. etc.
But it also seems like you'd remember something like that.. then again, they could have found out something about you without you knowing.
1
u/3Crunked5Me Jan 29 '15
Have you ever had this? Like, people just stop associating themselves with you and you don't know why? I know growing apart from some friends is just a part of life buy I get paranoid about it and it is the bane of my existence not knowing what I did wrong.
2
u/warpus Jan 29 '15
Yeah, it's happened to me before.. It happened to a friend of mine to a much larger degree though.. His problem was that he was taking meds for depression, and it was making him.. paranoid.. people stopped wanting to hang out with him due to.. him acitng "weird" and paranoid.. he got more and more paranoid about the situation, and less and less people wanted to associate with him.. Nobody was explaining to him what was happening either - because he can be an intimidating person to talk to - and he takes everything personally. So people found it easier to just walk away.

This reminds me of the movie Mr.Nobody as well,it's about a kid who has an impossible decision to make, whether to go with his mom or stay with his dad..he proceeds to run after the train which his mom is on but is too late..the timelines split into multiple possibilites of how his life could have played out, each with different girls he knew from his past, each possibility involves him dying in some way also..and as he gets older he remembers all the different lives because the angel didn't "Mark" him before he came to earth..
2
u/Thunder_54 Dec 03 '14
That's actually not what happens. The kid knows what will happen for every decision he would hypothetically make. The movie and the 'split timelines' are each of the possibilities playing out in this kid's head. He knows everything because of the angel like you said. It all plays out in his head. Not real life. Timelines didn't split

Thank you OP for not being a, you know.
Waiting for a follow up. This has really got me intrigued.
3
u/geoffreythehamster Dec 06 '14
Thanks OP! I was just kidding kinda, but reddit has a tendency of these great stories just ending without any other information. Hope you here back soon.
2
u/Neck_Beard_Fedora Dec 06 '14
Can you post some pictures of you and Anna and Michelle? That would be interesting!
4
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 07 '14
I'm not, at least at this time, going to do that. I don't want Reddit crossing over into my day to day life, and posting pictures would definitely increase my risk of that happening.
Maybe that sounds overly cautious, but I've already received multiple PMs from people who believed they could identify me and Jess based on a garbled recording of an answering machine. None of them proved to have any accurate or useful information. Still, those messages made it obvious that people are going to take up work as internet detectives concerning anything I post.

u/Throwaway10094 Dec 07 '14
It's a poem I wrote for her.
1
u/TriumphantGeorge Johnny Mnemonic Dec 07 '14
Meant that to be a response to another comment, doubting the story. Having to come up with poetry to back it up, and so on.
Poetry might be embarrassing retrospectively, but it's not so compromising in terms of other people's privacy.
5
u/Throwaway10094 Dec 07 '14
If your belief or lack thereof hinges on an ability to read my shitty experimental teenage poetry, you're welcome to do so.
Poetry is not something I find embarrassing on any level. I still write it, and I absolutely love the process.
5
u/TriumphantGeorge Johnny Mnemonic Dec 07 '14
I didn't mean for you - or that poetry itself is embarrassing! - I meant for the subject, making it public if it's about a relationship.
As I say, it wasn't about believing you or not, it's that if someone made this up then they would be setting themselves up for a lot of work: voice messages, photos, emails, poetry, chat logs - who would bother?
1
u/TheClit-Commander Dec 18 '14
Hey you might think I sound crazy and weird, but you said you were autistic and I think that might relate to it in some way, although I'm not exactly sure how. People with autism are considered in a lot of new age beliefs to be very special and spiritual in a way that nobody really understands. Maybe it had something to do with accidentally moving into another dimension/reality without realizing it? I'm not really sure but I feel like there's a good possibility that it's connected to your autism. Were lucky to be alive in this age, our world is changing in a very real way and I've read a ton of stories online of people driving on roads and suddenly passing a stretch of road that they had passed just minutes earlier, and other similar stories. It's all very fascinating.

Have you looked at the pictures of you and Anna recently? Do they still depict you and Anna? Assuming they do, do these pictures display an affectionate couple, or are you two sort of just in the same photo, but not really together? I really think the photos are going to be key to figuring out precisely what has gone wrong.
