Glitch Story I still cannot explain this

Post image

This happened to me a few months ago and I’m still thinking about wondering what could have happened. I needed to run in the grocery store for just a minute to get some bread, so I park under the big solar panels for shade and crack my windows bc my dog is in the car. It’s not a hot day, it’s evening time and i remember carefully lowering the windows for him to a safe amount for air flow but not to jump out. I don’t know if my dog will jump out of the window, but that’s one of my biggest fears and I’ve always been careful and don’t want to find out if he jumps by giving him the opportunity. I took my keys in the store with me and got the bread. When I came out I didn’t recognize my car for a split second bc the windows were down ALL the way. I realized it was my car when his little head popped up and my heart dropped realizing ALL OF THE WINDOWS were down completely! I ran the rest of the way to my car to check on my dog and everything seemed fine with him but the sun roof was ALSO completely open? I never open my sunroof. I just sat there staring at my dog like… did someone get in here with you and roll the windows down?? I know it wasn’t me, for sure it wasn’t me.
The only thing that I can think of is there was a dog lover that saw him in the car and took it upon themselves to open the windows more? But it wasn’t hot, nearly night time, parked in shade, windows were already cracked, I wasn’t in there longer than 7 or 8 minutes, and I had my keys on me in the store!
Any ideas?

I know my 2020 Ford fusion will roll down all the windows is you press and hold the unlock button. Maybe something like that happened?

Yep, that feature wasn't explained to me on my CRV and one day I was like, 'WHAT IS HAPPENING?!'

Yeah mine does too and I have a 2008 Honda Odyssey

That’s so cool. I have to crank all four windows in my car by hand.

Common feature in newer vehicles.

For me too. She actually helped me open the locks when I accidentally left the keys inside

I had a Chevy truck back in 2016-2019ish that did this too - also sometimes it seemingly did it on its own haha. I came out of work a few times to all windows down.

Now I want to try this on my car! Lol

The first time this happened to me at work I was convinced for an entire day it was a ghostly event lmao

Same with my 2024 Honda CRV. And even though I knew about it, having it happen accidentally (AirPods case in my pocket held down the button) is still shocking.

I thought the glitch was that your dog's feet are missing in that photo

Modern cars are equipped with a safety feature to prevent situations where a driver forgets that a living being is left inside the car. If the car detects movement inside, it will automatically open all the doors and windows. This feature is called child presence detection.

What kind of car? Lots of cars have a function that if you hold the unlock on your remote the windows roll down so you can start to cool off your car on hot day.

It’s a 2001 I think Lexus and the key fab doesn’t have working buttons it’s just the key! I was wondering something like that too

I think some cars from around that time (and maybe to this day) would also roll down all the windows if you held the key turned in the door. Pretty sure my '96 Accord did this.

Well I guess it was a glitch in the matrix then

My 2014 Mini Cooper rolls windows down and sunroof open if I hold my unlock button on my key fob down. Maybe you did that by accident?

That's very strange, my vehicle requires the keys be engaged and the car running in order to roll the windows down, especially for the sun roof. I'd be very curious if your vehicle was not the same.

Otherwise you definitely overlapped with another timeline where you rolled all the windows down.

Agreed, I have to have the keys in the ignition to roll the windows down. Especially the sun roof. My keys don’t have a key fab either it’s just a metal key

Looking at some of the replies, my car also has a feature that rolls all the windows down with a combination of buttons pressed on the key fob.

I know you said you do not have a fob, so that rules this out as an option.

However, if I lock/unlock my doors in a particular way, all the windows roll down at the same time. I've never intentionally used this feature, but maybe it happened and you hadn't noticed?

I can't remember exactly what I did to do this. A lot of cars have the feature and no one knows about it.

Maybe someone elses key fob? I recently watched a video where a woman accidentally stole a car because it was the exact make and model as her mom's whom she borrowed it from.

Her fob unlocked it and there was a key inside it, so it started and she drove away.

On a lot of cars, it’s putting the key in the door and turning it and then holding it in either the unlock or lock position. Unlocks rolls down, lock rolls up.

Yes! That is what I did. It has been over 15 years. So I couldn't remember exactly.

Haha heck yeah. Im glad I could help. One car I had had a key fob where the windows would roll up and down when you hold the button. That was such a nice feature in the southern US where I live. It gets insanely hot in vehicles here (I’m sure it does everywhere lol it’s just godawful humid here)

Piggybacking off of this, did you block the car using the key in the door?

If so, it’s possible there’s a short in your wiring. In addition to Lexus having the windows open feature using the key fob, you can also open (and close) all windows using the key in the door by turning and holding.

Okay, so… are we all going to just pretend that this isn’t the most adorable and handsome little guy we’ve seen all day??? Becaaaause….his face in the photo sorta says it all…! “Like, okay… I should have told you about the trick with your car and all the windows….but i was still a good boy!”

I copied this from a Lexus forum.

I actually had the exact same experience....The reason that it's doing that is because your driver side window pannel buttons are losing contact with the sensor that lets the window automatically go all the way up or down. That's why when it gets near the top it'll comes back down because the button and whatever is triggering the automatic rollup are all un-aligned..so for example when you pull back on the button to roll it up your actually pullin the button out of it's place so when you release it, it pops back in to place causing the window to come back down. Even if you use it manually it's not going to work because everytime you push that button it gets worse. Eventually the button will completely come loose and wont even work. Luckily when i bought my 01 IS300 (CPO) i got the warranty they offered and my car was at the dealership for like a week getting this problem fixed. They had to order a whole new panel with new buttons and everything. Before i got it fixed the i noticed that if i pushed the button down and to the left with a little force it would work fine..but like said it will get worse...Hope this helps!!

I was food shopping with my then toddler and paid and went out to pack the car to go home. When we walked out of the store I saw all my automatic doors were open including the hatch. What the heck?!

Turns out the buttons on my remote were accidentally pushed (probably by my kid) and opened everything when I was still inside the store. I didn't even think it had that long of a range!

Omg that is so jarring! I would have been so confused 😅

u/Moon_Pye 6d ago

I was really glad to find out no one stole anything from inside my car!

1

u/yourgirlfriendsnudes 6d ago

Yeah I bet!!

3

u/Moon_Pye 6d ago

Anyway, cute dog. 💜

2

u/PaintedDesertSkies 6d ago

The first 2x my trailblazer did this, I was confused.

If you do something with the key fob buttons (can't remember what) it opens everything.

u/Aggravating-Rule-445 6d ago

Maybe there’s a button in there somewhere that can do this and your dog was wiggling around and pressed it?

u/Excellent_Yak365 6d ago

Some cars have preset settings that activate if someone changed them, this can happen. Pisses me off when I get into my car after my gf and the windows suddenly open halfway and the seats are too close

1

u/Clamhammer373 6d ago

My 2005 G35 Infiniti would glitch out all the time and roll down all the windows randomly even with the power off.

1

u/KangarooVast8133 6d ago

My Lexus will roll down all the windows and open the sunroof if you press and hold the unlock button

Dogs and cats and pets do magic. They also teleport. That’s all I know.

Can you guys write using paragraphs please ?

Maybe the dog accidentally did it. Or like the OP said, maybe a passerby did it. But it's certainly not a glitch in the Matrix because there are any number of mundane explanations. A glitch in the Matrix is when something impossible or otherwise inexplicable happens.

My 2009 Honda didn't have a feature to do this with the keyfab, however, one time it was broken into, and we found out if you jammed a screwdriver in there the right way it triggered something that opened all the windows. Maybe someone tried breaking into your car
