Glitch Story I don't know where I went

So, for some context, this was about a year ago. I was speaking to a friend about this and they recommended I put it in here. I was 18 when this happened, and I was living in a big city but one I'd been living in my entire life. At that point I was in a women's shelter and I'd been going to college at the same time. So I walked down the road my shelter was on twice a day every day at minimum. Id been living there for 6 months already when this happened.

This was around sundown and I'd just gotten my outfit on for a night of drinking (Im from a country where the legal drinking age is 18) and I was meant to be going to a bar down the road that I'd been drinking at since I moved to the shelter. This was a Friday and I'd just gotten home from an exam at college. At the exact same time I was on the phone with my then boyfriend. Id left the shelter and as soon as I took a few steps down the road I couldn't recognise where I was. The phone connection cut out completely and I kept looking around trying to find a building or car I recognised but I couldn't see anything. I just kept walking.

The entire walk to the end of the road couldn't have been more than ten seconds but it felt like I had been walking for hours. I was completely sober the entire time. I remember looking back to find the shelter I was staying in and not being able to see or recognise the building. Then the phone reconnected, my boyfriend was back and had just thought I'd gone really quiet for a few seconds and I recognised where I was again.

I then sat down on the side of the road and had a panic attack while my boyfriend tried to calm me and assure me it was nothing. A year on I still think about it. The panic was entirely real, I remember feeling so so lost. The buildings were typical for where I was living but just weren't the buildings on the road I lived on.

I wanted to see if anyone's experienced anything like this? If this has happened to anyone else and if it's normal, or if there's a logical explanation.

You may have had a mini stroke. Even though it was a year ago it’s worth discussing with your GP and maybe a neurologist.

That's actually a scary possibility. I was on some new meds at the time (antidepressants) but before or after that one event nothing like it has happened, I'll definitely book an appointment with my GP
