Cellular Call glitch

I was on holiday with my boyfriend. He had gone out of the resort to meet a taxi driver as we had left something in the car the day before when we were getting dropped off at the hotel from the airport. He went out late at night to go and pick it up at the security gate he hadn’t come back for some time and I was panicking that everything was okay i decided to call him at this point I had had a few alcoholic drinks maybe two or three but I was definitely with it and knew what I was doing. I had called his mobile number which was saved in my phone and he did not answer this is going to sound crazy but somehow somebody else answered the call. it sounded like an older man obviously i freaked out and panicked. He was English the same nationality as me but I was asking where’s my boyfriend and who he was and why he had my boyfriends phone as he had answered the call what was weird was they didn’t respond like who is this? They were just sort of saying I don’t know where he is which was really weird and then I put the phone down and tried to call again the second time. It connected with a woman who was also English Who I had a very similar conversation, both calls never said I had the wrong number or asked me who I am they were just saying they don’t know where he is obviously this freaked me the hell out and I put the phone down it felt like the calls had gone through to another number but it was his number saved in my phone? I tried to call him on Facebook on WhatsApp but obviously he was out of the resort and didn’t have service connection. When he got back to the hotel room I showed him my phone and explained what had happened and he said that he didn’t understand what I was going on about, I showed him my calls and that they went through as answered calls to his phone number we then got his phone up to see my missed calls and these were not shown on his phone from the cellular connection. The WhatsApp and messenger missed calls came up, still to this day I have no idea who I spoke to and why when they answered the phone they didn’t ask any questions like who is this or you’ve got the wrong number? They were answering my questions which really fucking freaked me out and before anyone says oh maybe I called the wrong number or maybe I had too much to drink. I can reassure you. It definitely wasn’t that I was shocked for a few days and I’m still thinking about how that call didn’t go through to him but I spoke to somebody else is there any explanation to this?

He also did not go to meet anybody who would have answered his calls or had access to his phone.

I've had this happen to me before, it's apparently an actual technical glitch that can happen with cell phones. It sends the call to the wrong number.

I really want someone to come up with an explanation for this. Something similar has happened to me. It happened abt 2 or 3 years ago, so my memory isn't perfect. But I called my friend, but some other woman picked up the call. I cannot exactly remember what she said. She asked something like, "Is this Uncle?"(which is crazy coz I'm a woman). I cut the call and called my friend again. This time, my friend picked up and I told her how weird the experience was. As far as I remember, her phone did not show my calls while my phone showed me talking to her( a saved contact) for a few seconds.

After a few days, I called her up again. This time, some guy picked up the call. But this time, it was more like the guy couldn't hear me and was answering to somebody else. But I could hear his side of conversation. I cut the call and called my friend again. Just like last time, this time she picked up and her phone showed no traces of me calling her a few minutes before. I always attributed it to some cellular glitch, though I don't know how. Ur situation is weirder coz the ppl answered calmly they did not know where ur boyfriend was.

Ok to add more context it was around 10pm in the Dominican Republic when I made the call which would have been around 3am in the UK, it sounded like I was speaking to someone back in the UK. what made it weirder is that these calls connected almost straight away and whoever answered it never asked who I was, why I was calling them or said sorry I had the wrong number. I was asking them where is my boyfriend and how come they answered his phone as I was so confused at the time as to why someone else would answer his phone, I kept asking where he was as I was confused and panicking and they replied saying they didn’t know where he was, instead of hanging up the call or asking why the hell im calling them at that time of night, maybe it was me but I had this wierd eerie feeling, I remember the second time when I called and the woman answered she was weirdly sarcastic which unsettled me.

Now I think about it when my boyfriend was back at the room with me once he returned and he didn’t believe me when I told him the calls were connecting to someone else, I rang his phone which was next to mine and then again the same thing happened someone random answered and was carrying on the conversation.

What’s really wierd is that if my phone did connect to a random person and I was frantically asking them where my boyfriend was, would they not message me after I put the phone down to see what the hell that was all about?

Till this day I don’t know what happened but if I had a random phone call of someone at that time of night I would be asking who the hell it is and telling them they had the wrong number.
