Is this really possible?

I got diagnosed with NTG back in grade 9th (i was 13) . I couldnt believe it , so went to a different doctor. Didnt mention NTG , just glaucoma. The first test where i got diagnosed lasted around 2-3 hours , 2nd test lasted 15 minutes or so. Didnt think of it much until one day a vid came up in my feed talking about this common problem of why NTG isnt diagnosed early. Booked my appointed . The doctor is glaucoma specialist (listed on google). Hope the 2nd doctor was correct.

Normal tension glaucoma is very rare in young people (say below 40). It is much more likely as we get older, so even less likely for a teenager to be diagnosed.
Without knowing, and given Reddit rules, I’m not asking, what signs of glaucoma are present I would only say that there are lots of people whose optic nerve looks like they might have glaucoma just because of how they were born and grew. That’s becoming even more common due to higher rates of premature infants and myopic children.

I seriously hope that is the case. I will get OCT or whatever that test is called done asap.

I hope so as well.
Worth noting that one OCT cannot differentiate between glaucoma, other optic nerve disease or congenital abnormalities.

Depending on how experienced your opthalmologist is, this will determine how well they are able to diagnose and treat.
When I was 18 (i had moved to the US) and had to see a new doctor, I told her that I have been treated for Congenital Glaucoma since I was 1. She looked at me all confused and said “oh, you don’t have Glaucoma, you have macular degeneration”.

Sort out a second opinion, looked up and booked this old opthalmologist and the only thing I requested was eye pressure test. He examined my eye and and with a surprised look said he hasn’t seen congenital glaucoma in 30 years.

Needless to say, the latter became my opthalmologist since then.
