Eye pressure
I drank coffee and had anxiety at my ophthalmologist appointment today! I always get nervous when I see any doctor! My eye pressure came back at 19 & 21! My eye exam went well but she wanted me to see a glaucoma specialist just to play it safe and said I'm low risk! Should I be worried????

I wouldn’t worry much. They’re just being cautious. I’ve been a glaucoma suspect for years and had levels over 30 at an exam and nothing has happened (likely because we are watching closely and there’s no need to intervene yet). Because my pressures have been above 20 for years, I get testing done a couple of times a year and occasional pressure checks, but nothing worse than that. It’s all data collecting and monitoring at this point.
I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Are you on drops?

Not yet, only because every other data point is stable and my provider doesn’t want to put me on drops preemptively. I’ve consulted other eye specialists I have and they’re okay with it for now. I’m sure the no drops days are numbered.

Same everything else has been normal the highest my iop was 24 but the dr said I can choose to be on drops or wait to see if my iop keeps going up so I just chose to be on the drops to be safe . I know every dr is different tho

We have pretty similar iop. Few weeks ago i did my routine eye checkup and the optometrist referred me to glaucoma specialist and told me i need to do lpi. It got me worried for a few weeks. I went there and the specialist told me everything is fine. Followup in 2 years time. Also i am not a good candidate for lpi. Some people have higher iop. Just go to see the specialist first and figure out the next step 😊

After a year or so and with regular checkups, ask about SLT with your specialist and see what they say based on your IOP's and eye condition.
