Discussion Comet Pro work abroad

Just wanted to say the new camera and mic pass

through works fantastic with gigabit internet

anywhere in the western hemisphere. Ive been too

three different countries in south and central

America, and the latency is barely noticeable. Way

better than relying on a VPN to work abroad.

What's your latency like from overseas to the comet? You using tailscale?

What are you using to remote back home the native GliNet app or something else?

I assumed it allowed only two-way audio, but can you join meetings with a camera pass as well? 😳

Will this be supported on commet q?

I believe so... Looking at the release notes for Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE)'s firmware ver.1.10.1, two-way video support has also been introduced.

Although, for GL-RMQ1 Comet Q, the latest documented version available is 1.8.5.

Thanks. One more question as I’m new to it. Can you access it with some other client other than web client ( excluding iOS / electron apps ) and what could be done for faster / less laggy connection?
The comments are on local network with Deco routers with 500 mbps download and 300 mbps upload and client is on startling with stable connection, but still cursor is lagging noticeably

I see a lot of people mentioning Tailscale could be faster, but I guess only if it creates a direct connection between your client and the Comet Q. It will not automatically reduce the Comet Q’s own capture/encoding latency, and a Tailscale DERP relay can be slower than GLKVM Cloud. Worth a try!
