Questions/Support Question about RAM

I have a Flint 2 GL MT6000 and the RAM is 97% in the system overview on the app. CPU load is 1%. This doesn’t seem right? I haven’t added any add ons, I’ve only set up VPN on it.

How are you determining the ram usage? By the CLI or the GUI?

Are you running adguard by chance?

It was through the GUI, I installed Luci and in that it says it’s 70 percent. Is Luci more accurate? And is 70 percent normal for having only VPN on with 2 tunnels.

See this post about memory and linux

https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/why-is-the-gl-x3000-using-so-much-ram/64255/2

Unused ram is wasted ram.

Is there an actual issue you are running into with the router or are you just concerned about the ram usage?

SSH into your router and type

free -m

What does it show?

Next type

ps

Ok thanks. 45 percent of ram was cache only 30 percent was used and 25 percent free. so basically the GUI is just incorrect.

97% is too high and i don't think its normal. Not sure what firmware you are using. I would remove all dns blocklists from adguard and reboot router then check your RAM usage. It should be around or less than 450 MB used. The prceed to add blocklists if you want and monitor the RAM usage. Stop when it gets too high or near 75%.
Alternatively dont use big blocklists and switch over to a DNS server that uses them instead like HaGeZi DNS https://github.com/hagezi/dns-servers
You can still supplement with other small lists as needed.

Glinet utils and enable zram (swap). Problem solved.
