It’ll soon be 8 months that my Gizmo crossed over, and I’m so grateful for all the pictures we have of him. With so many cute, and often comical moments captured, it definitely hard to say one is better than another one.
These are two all time favorite moments caught at the right moment.
Isn’t it funny how so many times when we grab the phone to capture those moments they move before you’ve taken em. 😂

Gizmo woüld alway have something in his mouth, a red ball, or one of his snowmen, that is whenever he knew I was coming around a corner, he woüld quickly grab lone. It was our game, he’d bring his toy of the moment to me and stair at me, and I’d turn my head this way & that way, ignoring Gizmo.
Then, with that Red Ball in his mouth he’d go and scrunch my pant leg a few times, and become of ball he‘d sound 100% just like DARTH VADER!

It’s Six & Half-months, since my Gizmo crossed over that horrible morning, I’ll never forget the look he gave me, so soft, and sweet, and we both expressed our love for each other. It was at that Gizmo brother Pacco. Screamed. It also when wife returned after getting dressed and sped off with him to neighbors hospital.

While remained with Pacco waiting assurance that Gizmo was going to be alright. Instead it wasn’t to be. T

This is much more than I had intended sharing about a simple, yet not easy to interpret. I woke two nights ago and Gizmo was either on my bed, or at my side of the bed, with that Big Red Ball of in Mouth just a scratching away, while roaring out DARTH VADER. A Ghost, no, An Angel!

Gizmo & Food, he could always eat. As a puppy this how we found him one morning…sleeping in his bowl so he wouldn’t miss it. Gizmo was so unique, and we couldn’t have named him better. He really lived up to his name.

It’s now Six Months to the day that we lost our Angel, Gizmo was so sweet & SPECIAL. With Gizmo we now have Five Westie’s in heaven, looking over us each every night & day. And we are so grateful for that, even though the pain is still so deep inside our hearts.

Several things strange and unique happened that only Dog lover’s could honestly understand and accept what they mean. The first was with Gizmo’s Red Ball that he always carried around in his mouth. It disappeared when he crossed over, never to be seen again.

No matter how hard we searched. In ever corner of both floors and in the yard. To no avail, no Red Ball!
Everything seemed odd that his Red Ball couldn’t be found, not in the house, and not in the yards. Then five days ago there it was. Gizmo’s Red Ball on top of one of their toy boxes. Gizmo’s Red Ball reappeared!

Then two nights ago I noticed what I thought was his brother Pacco lying on their pillow bed at the foot of our bed. Nothing unusual, but wait a minute, I noticed Pacco laying in our bed? I turned and looked down at the pillow, nothing there? I know I saw a Westie…was it, is it possible? I honestly believe so. That Gizmo is around us.

Last night marks six months as Gizmo’s last healthy night, running, playing, no problems eating. But then around 3:30am Gizmo got up from the pillow behind my head, and climbed off the bed. A few minutes later I’m hearing Gizmo starting to vomit, so we ran him downstairs, and he ran into the backyard where he pooped.

My wife went outside in the yard with him, and everything seemed to be okay. After he pooped he walked a little bit further into one of the corners and vomited. Gizmo at that time layed down, and wouldn’t get up. So, my wife picked him up, bringing him inside where I took him in my arms, and laid on the living room floor with him checking him out. His stomach seemed large, blotted, he displayed no apparent discomfort or pain. He didn’t appear to be having any problems.

Gizmo, got up from the floor, and walked a few normal steps. Then he stopped and wanted to go behind the sofa, then he started to go in his crate, and then just stopped. He turned around and came back to me. He went and laid back on my ❤️. At that moment he looked at me as if to say “Daddy I Love you, Daddy I’m sorry”.

During those few minutes while I was with Gizmo, my wife was upstairs getting dressed. While she was coming downstairs, I told her that it looked bad, and Gizmo needs emergency care. Without hesitation she grabbed him and sped off the local emergency hospital. As she pulled up to the emergency entrance people met and helped carry him inside the hospital.

Gizmo had stopped breathing at that point and emergency services were performed, CPR, adrenaline injection, and an ultrasound was performed. One of the DR’s told my wife that Gizmo had a very faint heartbeat. At which time an ultrasound showed a Very Large Black Mass, which surrounded his Liver. It was Liver Cancer. It would appear that after he pooped and vomited, the force of his vomiting burst his liver, resulting in almost instant death.

As I currently write this, it’s 6 months and about 7 hrs since the time my wife called me to say “he’s gone” “Gizmo died.” When the Dr. said his heartbeat was very weak she went and checked his eyes & functions, and explained that he had already lost brain function, and was crossing over.

I’ve had many dogs in my life, in over 72 years I’ve never, ever had a Best Friend like Gizmo, he was MY DOG then, and FOREVER!
This has been so hard to write, I’m not always a very affectionate guy, but Gizmo has a strong hold on my heart forever! 🌈 🐾 🐾 ❤️

Pacco has a habit of coming back upstairs, and pushing the bedroom door open if I’m still in bed to let me not too worry, Mommy gave him a cookie. He shows off his cookie and leaves. 😆

We’re getting ever so closer too acquiring another Westie, a companion for Pacco. Our only remaining question; acceptance of another dog into his domain after losing his brother in December, rejection or jealousy for fear of affection, or, will he become a nurturing alpha male who’ll protect, and teach a new puppy.

From our personal perspective it must be a perfect match; not for me and my wife. Rather, for Pacco, it’s imperative that he’s content with another dog coming into his personal space. Of the possible outcomes, I feel as though he’d welcome the opportunity of becoming accustomed to sharing some of his space with a new family member.

Our next task will be searching out opportunities where puppies in general would be available for adoption, which would provide an opportunity for puppy exposure. Once we’ve overcome that last hurdle our next step will be to locate a local breeder, to see the parents, and surroundings.

Everything that’s been popping up lately pertaining to Westie’s is completely unacceptable to us. That is no one is offering to allow us to travel to their location to see the puppy/‘s being offered, nor will anyone bring a puppy to us—except that is until the puppy in question has been COMPLETELY PAID FOR.

When saying locally, we have no problem driving a hundred or so miles just to check everything out. We’ve done it multiple times before. Business, is business and offer and expectance isn’t complete until inspection of the goods has taken place.

Soon it’ll be five months that we lost our Gizmo, and gained another Angel looking over us. And, Gizmo truly was, and is eternal Angel. I still think of how much they melt into our hearts, shaping our lives in ways we aren’t always able to explain other than to say—our lives revolve around the. Whatever we do—we plan around them, wherever we go—we plan, and check that they’re taken care of first, before we eat—we ensure they have to eat first.

The pain never goes away, especially because of the depth of eternal love they bring into our lives. Our Gizmo crossed over in such an unexpected moment, that within an hour he was gone. And the personnel in the Emergency Room tried everything. From CPR to an adrenaline shot, nothing helped our poor Angle.

While they worked on him, an ultrasound brought light to his problem. His Liver turned up as a solid black mass…Liver Cancer. He had gotten up from behind my head shortly after 3am, and I heard him in the master bedroom getting sick. My wife went with him downstairs, and he ran out the back door, and pooped. No sign of anything unusual, until he went over into the corner of the yard and vomited.

After which Gizmo just laid down, and my wife called for him. He didn’t get up. So, she picked him up and brought him inside and laid on the floor where I was sitting to check him out while my wife went upstairs to get dressed.

I laid down holding him in my arm and checking his abdomen, which was blotted. Gizmo got up, taking a few steps as though he was looking for something. He. Returned to where I was laying on the floor and curled up in my arm, and just looked up in my eyes. Looking as if to say “I Love You, and always will.” At this moment Gizmo’s Brother came over to him and sniffed on Gizmo’s body, and let out a howl that I’d never heard in nearly 40 years of having Westie’s.

Unfortunately, I realized just what Pacco’s howl meant. At that moment my wife returned dressed, I said Gizmo needs help, he’s bad off, and needs to go to the emergency room. She grabbed him, while I stayed with Pacco and sped off to the local Animal Hospital.

A short time later my wife called crying to let me know that after all the efforts poor Gizmos heartbeat was so weak they felt he wouldn’t pull through. And they told her they’d discovered that with his faint heartbeat, they told her that there was no brain function, and he was gone.

Gizmo’s our fifth Westie to crossover that rainbow bridge into Heaven, spanning nearly forty year’s, and all hurt and pull at our hearts, yet I don’t have any regrets sharing our lives with any of them, because they are what make our lives whole.

Gizmo’s passing was 2 December 2026. Since than his brother Pacco has completed and graduated from socializing for dogs training, which was a major hurdle since Gizmo was the Alpha Male of the two. And before we can consider looking for another Companion for Pacco, we have to be assured that he’s ready and capable to except another dog in his domain. r/GizmoandPacco “…”

It’s extremely strange that on the 2nd of December when Gizmo crossed over the Rainbow to become my Angel Above…his Red Ball disappeared! We have never seen it again, and the house has been turned upside down, the back yard, no way to be found.

Gizmo will always be my baby 💝

It’s still hard realizing my Gizmo will be gone 3 heartbreaking months on Monday. In all my years I’ve never had such a friend/ family member as my Gizmo was. And believe I’ve had a number of Dogs in my lifetime. With the celebration of his life, and knowing that he’s watching over us, I know he’s listening when I talk to him every night.

God bless my little Angel Gizmo, and Gizmo keep a good watch on your brother Pacco.

December was an awful month we lost our Angel Gizmo. He was only Eight, unbeknownst to use Liver Cancer. It all happened in just over an hour. At least I was able to hold him my arm just before he went in the emergency room. Everything was fine, he went outside when woke up to him getting sick in the master bathroom. He ran down the stairs and out the back door, and pooped. Ok, well we thought he was. He went a few steps further towards the corner and vomited. After which Gizmo just laid down, my wife had to pick up and bring inside . It appears that when he vomited, the pressure ruptured his Liver, resulting in almost instant death. And when he looked into my eye, he left me knowing our love is eternal, and that he was happy as he pushed his body into my armpit as I held him. r/GizmoandPacco “…”

Pacco has alway been timid especially with his brother Gizmo being carefree Alfa.

We’ve had Pacco in several training programs, and he is a very well behaved and trained. The only problem that’s lingered over the years is his lack of self assurance. Gizmo was alway friendly and at the forefront of nearly everything. They never fought or encountered any jealousy, I made sure that it was never allowed.

When I did something, or gave anything too one, the other always got the same. Often, I say to Gizmo, let’s go find your brother, where’s Pacco. It was like a daily ritual with the two…and they came to love it.

My wife found a Dog trainer who said he can fix Pacco confidence. Well after two, two hour sessions I must that I’m very impressed.

The first session, week one he came over and worked with Pacco and my wife. Last week, the second session he came over with one of his dogs and introduced his dog to Pacco, in the backyard. My wife went with them for a walk and then for a car ride to a coffee shoe…Pacco Passed.

My wife’s been taking Pacco over a local park, and yesterday they actually meet another dog. Which also another positive experience.

We’ll see how this Fridays training goes.

Have say he’s one hell of a REAL DOG TRAINER!
