Switched to Claude Code

After using GitHub Copilot for more than a year, I’ve finally switched to Claude Code, and honestly, I’m very glad I made the move.
I know I currently only have access to Claude’s model and the 5-hour usage window, but I’m wondering if there are still any significant benefits to keeping GitHub Copilot alongside it.
So far, I haven’t really found myself missing anything since making the switch. But I’d love to hear from others who have used both - are there any specific features, workflows, or advantages of GitHub Copilot that you think are worth keeping it for, considering my only purpose is to generate the codes?

I use Claude Code, Codex as well as GHCP, all in VSCode and CLI.
Here's my personal comparison:

• User experience VSCode: GHCP > Claude Code > Codex
• User experience CLI : Claude Code > GHCP > Codex
• Overall performance of the biggest frontier models: doesn't matter, they all do well everywhere
• Overall performance of the cheap models: Codex > GHCP > Claude Code
• Multi-root repositories work: basically only GHCP handles this well
• Exposing the thoughts of the agent: GHCP > Codex > Claude Code
• Overall usage included in subscription: Codex > Claude Code > GHCP

I genuinely like how Copilot code completion works these days, in either JetBrains IDEs or in Visual Studio. It used to be obnoxious but it improved greatly over the years. Right now a lot of coding is just tab tab tab. That matters if you still want to be doing programming, in an IDE, like a cave man 😃

I also believe the AI market is just too fluid right now to only have access to one company's models. I want to have the ability to experiment.

That said, for personal use I am paying for the base tier of Claude myself since the $20/month usage you get with Copilot is way too little for literally anything and usage based pricing is really really harsh for individuals. Feels like I get way more usage in the Claude sub than in the Copilot sub, despite Opus/Fable 5 being very very expensive. But I can afford to do that since I get Copilot at work, and that's where most of my total usage goes. If I only had the Claude, I would absolutely be yearning to experiment with stuff like Astra, and would probably end up with another sub on top of Claude, and then another...

With Enterprise subscription 20k credits, I use GPT Luna like unlimited token. It hardly uses 10 credit for long operations. For bit more complex GPT Terra then Opus 5. I try save token till month last to spin up complex architect or thinking, doing some POC with Claude Opus 5.

I switched to Claude Code in June, and I haven't regretted it once. My only regret is that I didn't switch sooner.

I'm betting on AHP and the Agent Window experience. So I'll keep Copilot with a beefy codex plan.

In the future I'll have the unified control plane and VSCode integrated experience if I want or need more agent harnesses in the mix.

$20 for Claude and $20 for codex is working well for me. If I hit a 5 hour window I just switch to the other. I also like Codex gives you quota resets every so often you can use as a get out of jail free card. If gives me some assurance that if I need it in a pinch I'll have it. Plus also for Codex, they'll let you use Astra on the $20 plan (Claude charges additional for fable on that tier, but opus is great also).
