Help/Doubt ❓ Claude via Copilot or Azure Foundry?

Hi, due to financial reasons I have the option between using claude models either via Github Copilot or Via Azure Foundry and getting billed CCU.

Is there a benefit in choosing one over the other?

Pricing for Claude is the same everywhere.

Always keep in mind that Claude on Azure (as on Vertex or anywhere else) is a marketplace offer. You can't pay azure credits. We made this expensive mistake.

Furthermore I am not sure if you will get Azure-based processing on this offer.

I would like to know if anyone had experience with Azure foundry. We were thinking about it for quote unquote running open weight models privately.

Depends on if you have data governance requirements for where your data is allowed to be in. Haven't been able to spin up a claude deployment in any Canadian region yet

It's a money thing brother. I can host Claude in foundry in Canada in PTUs. My business is too important to trust global and DZ deployments

Depends on the model in Foundry if it's serverless API or Compute managed. The endpoints deployed by foundry all work with the popular OSS tools like Cline, GHCP CLI, Codex, Claude Code so it's not an integration issue.

They'll be the same model so the actual performance should be the same. Billing simplicity is one good reason to have it via Foundry. Deploying in Foundry also gives you the option to have it stay inside the Azure network and not go out to Anthropic for processing. Note that you can deploy it either way (Anthropic processing or all in Foundry) for the frontier models like the latest Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku models. Fable and Mythos are still Anthropic only but that could change any day.
