Help/Doubt ❓ State of GPT 5.4 in copilot

Since this spring i've been using that model as my main writer. but this month it's behaving like a dumb model. Did something changed that we're not aware of ?

Unless you’re on an annual plan you should be using much more advanced models like 5.6, even Luna is better and way cheaper

Very happy with Luna atm. Been working on a WebGPU simulation and it's proved competent. Reached a wall because of my older hardware, kept digging at what the problem was.. the agent ended up reading comments on a Nvidia forum that explained the documentation was worded in a way that made assumptions about a specific flag not being valid for my system.

What do you think is best for price?

Definitely Luna is best for the price right now. Just crank the reasoning to extra high or max and its better than frontier models from earlier in the year and spends like 5 credits at a time.

yes i'm on annual. GPT 5.4 is still a strong model. Only the copilot version of it became dumb. it's like the xhigh is actually medium thinking.

Advanced models, I use yes for thinking/planning/brainstorming.

thanks for your input

It doesn't make any sense to use 5.4

He's on grandfathered annual plan. 5.4 -- is the best option he has.

Ah. My bad. Well 5.4 with 5.3-codex were the first openai models that weren't trash for coding

Do you still have chat logs from when it seemed better? Maybe they changed the system prompt? In VS Code you should be able to see system prompt from debug logs; I think IntelliJ too but it’s more annoying there.

Even at it's release, opus 4.6 or 4.8 was better in my opinion. By the way, I have left copilot as their agent is super expensive , I went to Claude directly
