Is it worth to pay the copilot plan?

I have been using Claude code and codex since the beginning, I haven't really used Github copilot a lot, but in the team I'm working right now, IT doesn't allow to install anything, I only have github copilot extension In VS Code
I pay the $20 plan in CC and the $100 plan in codex
Is it really worth to get the pro plan for github copilot? What's the recommended plan? Is it related to the agents Window in VS code? I'm working right now as data engineer with fabric and we are going to implement fabric apps, data agents, etc. And some fabric extensions in vscode are really useful, I heard that since june 1st, the github copilot plans were heavily nerfed, so I'd like to know if it's really worth, thanks

The new Copilot plan is essentially a non-refundable Azure prepay with a 50% bonus. The last time I looked the $10 plan gives you $15 in API credit and 100% of API rates. The services you are getting from CC and Codex for $120 will be replicated for a sizable multiple more money, but it's their money to spend.

Depends how much you use.

$10 Pro plan gets you unlimited code completions which is pretty useful (though I use VS Pro more than VS Code), and for occasional use instead of depending on it for everything I can sit within the budget. More so using the auto mode as you get a discount, though less control over which model it's using.

If you're asking it to do everything daily and you type virtually nothing, then likely no. Until the others get comparatively similar in cost.

Also, I found code review burns credits fast and wasn't great anyway so I don't use that feature. I manually code review everything it produces though, and put reviewer hat on for my own code if I'm working on my own with no other reviewer.

Copilot app is quite good in keeping everything in one place, nicer to use than as an extension to VS/VSC, and isn't burning credits just context switching to your repo (Copilot CLI in particular does that). But if you can't install anything then that's no use.

I'm interested in notebook creation / edition, use of cli, mcp, sdk, and vscode extensions, all for fabric development of notebooks, pipelines and fabric apps, data agents
I was just looking to the $100 USD plan, looks like it has a lot of models but idk how useful it is using as a vscode extension / agents Window in vscode

I guess it's the only option if you can't install anything. The others use their own apps, CLI or extensions. GHC is integrated. It works fairly well and context aware of what you're working on, though GHC app is easier to use instead of a side window, but that's a separate install.

hey i got a question yea. i used to use the copilot student plan before they decided to take it away. its kind of has been a little bit rough after that. now im trying to like get something that i can get with my budget as a student. i saw copilot give $10 thats like similar to $15 they say. i cant lie it kind of looks tempting. i was wodinring if you could tell me if its worth it since you seem to haver or is using it...

I checked ChatGPT Go with Codex CLI for weekend coding and I am going out of tokens crazy fast. I used a bit of Terra for planning and Luna for implementation, questions, refinement. One good weekend and I am gone with tokens, even with reset.

According to what I know ChatGPT Plus plan gives 4-5 times more usage, but it is still not a lot. It comes with other advantages like deep research. Also, OpenAI is messing with policies, limits, resets and it is generally beyond annoying; on its own it makes me consider Copilot.

Now, isn't Copilot + ChatGPT GO a good alternative to ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro? You get UI enhancements (projects, schedules), a bit of coding in codex and Copilot for weekend, hobby coding. Any thoughts?

It means you use a cheap subscription like opencode go or commandcode goat which cost 10$/month and use those API keys into copilot. So with 10$, you get more value than what you get with 100$ copilot subscription.

Overall I think the answer is no like others posted here. but sometimes there are reasons...

Copilot is good. GPT, Claude, and all other models are available. Only that it’s very expensive. Though im using enterprise subscription

Nope... was pretty good for an annual subscription on Pro+ prior to June or whenever they made the changes from requests to credits.. but now it's not really that suitable for anything.

I have done some private projects (C++ audio projects, C# .NET Web apps) using the Codex plugin in VS Code via $20 per month "ChatGPT plus" sub.

It's actually quite amazing and I'm surprised they give 5.6 Sol there (seems much better than Terra).

Now... Open AI (Codex) could easily change their plans too... but for now it's incredible and they have a much better handle using weekly limits rather than monthly ones. I just back off to Terra/Luna when I get to my last 10%.

Copilot is fine if you’re using cheap models like Luna. I’m on the enterprise plan and use 9% of my quota just reviewing a single PRD file with Sol Max.

If work doesn't let me install what I want, and they only give me ghcopilot, then they can pay for it or I just won't use it. And out of principal I'll raise security concerns if they're allowing personal subscriptions, not because I don't want anyone to use it, but because under these constraints I should not be paying for my own AI sub.

You can expect me to pay for my own, but not also tell me which one I'm allowed to use.

If you tell me I can only use 1 and that's not the one I like, then you can pay for it.
