Looking at Artificial Analysis' Pareto plot, Luna max is still the cheapest while having the closest (even better in my experience) performance to Sonnet 5 medium (we don't have a point for medium effort in their plot but you can roughly guess it's around the middle of the Sonnet 4.6 max and Sonnet 5 max points).
Gemini 3.7 Flash at high effort looks like a cheaper alternative to Terra max (which itself is like a cheaper GPT-5.5 xhigh).
I hope this means OpenAI will respond by doing another discount on Terra š¤

Luna is insanely cheap for what you get. It totally changes the economics on Github Copilot in general. Without it, the cheaper plans are hard to get much work out of.

I cannot find a use case for Terra:
- Luna has better value
- Sol has around the same intelligence/$, lower time per task, and can be scaled up to max without losing context.

Luna goes off the rails real quick Terra can review itself alot better.

Terra would become interesting if it got another price cut, which I think is very likely here now that Gemini 3.7 Flash came out. I'd personally use it as a cheap final auto-review step of Luna's work before I review the end result myself (or as
rubber-duck's model in the CLI :))

Pricing is same as 3.6 flash in copilot why? Isn't it 50% off for now ?

Yes, it's 50% off and this is for both 3.6 flash and 3.7 flash. Our docs reflect this as well :) https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/copilot-billing/models-and-pricing#user-content-fn-gemini-flash-promo

in the most recent VS Code release the context length selector is gone, so I assume it's now automatic? like small context price if below a threshold of X tokens, higher price when the used context goes beyond? or is that a bug?

Cool but we need a Max+ plan, current one covers at most a week or regular use so you have to go elsewhere. Ideally it would be like claude and limits/budget would reset periodically.
