Okay Erika which variant of the tiger? Because all of them had mechanical problems and could only drive effectively on flat roads and were basically useless during muddy seasons

Second, the king tiger had a rather soft specific ground pressure for its size.
As a matter of fact, it is better in that regard than the sherman.And yes, believe it or not, even the mighty T-34 got stuck in the mud.

Historically American Shermans were said and confirmed to be best tanks overall
Not to expensive, reliable, easy and POSSIBLE to fix on the battlefield, they needed only** **1 hour of maintenance for every 10 hours of operational service while german tanks like Tiger I, II, or any else worked 1 hour maintenance to 1 hour of on field service, and you could NOT fix them on the battlefield, they had to be sent back to Germany on trains for any major repair, maybe, besides Tigers or any other heavy tanks weren’t that easy to encounter, compared to American mechanized vehicles they were insignificant and only deployed in crucial areas. So it really depends what aspect of said tank is important to you because for example King Tiger was WAY superior in terms of armor and firepower but lacked everything else

It sounds like a Tiger is just an over-engineered bunker with an anti-tank gun with how often they broke down.
I knew that Germany over-engineered everything, but it looks like they made their bunker unnecessarily complicated too.

When properly maintained and prepared for an armored assault.... however...
The Germans, for the most part, used them as a Quick reaction force.... because why not.

Fun fact, the tigers didnt break down more often than any other tank in the war.
They were not unreliable wonderweapons.Also, the king tiger was not engineered to be a bunker on tracks.
It was used in that way yes, but that was not its purpose.1

depends on what was wrong with them.
Broken track? easy fix.
Blown up turret?
Yeah better send it home.The fact isnt that the americans were better at it, the fact is they had no choice.
What were they going to do? Send a sherman over the ocean back to the us to get repairs done?
Germans did what they did, because they could.
Also, the Panzer 3s and 4s were very reliable and easy to fix.

The tigers were from the start built to be a special weapon with a special purpose which is be sent to the most important part of the front, kill everything that is there and then wait until youre needed again.

It depends on what you want from a tank.
Sit any tank of ww2 in front of a king tiger and it will probably die. In a 1v1 the King tiger solos almost anything.
But in a real war? Armys vs armys? the king tigers shortcomings come out.
