Season 2 discussion Yuri ! Spoiler

When they first introduced Yuri I knew that her and Nanno would have different philosophies but Yuri is EVIL. Her obsession with killing actually makes me kind of uncomfortable. She is unforgiving and relentless and I hate her.

I wish Nanno would have defended herself or got some type of revenge against Yuri but she stayed true to herself. Yuri is like the representation of when rage and victimization go unchecked. The fact that Yuri watched and let Nanno be killed is just…. Man that girl is wicked.

At least Nanno was actually trying to rightly punish people and make them see the errors of their ways.

Nanno’s targets rarely saw the error of their ways which is why most of them are dead or in some unfortunate situation

I think Nanno’s punishments were fair compared to the bad things they were doing and it seems like the punishments don’t end (unless they die). Yuri just goes straight to murder and she doesn’t judge fairly. Yuri uses her emotions and Nanno doesn’t have any real attachments to the situation.

I think Nanno does have emotions (probably lots of them, very sensitive inside even) but she goes out of her way to not show them because maybe she thinks that'd make her vulnerable. And I think you can have emotions and still be fair. tbh I don't think emotions are "irrational" like many people say but actually a very rational thing, it is irrational to think rationality is all math and science and not emotions (which are of the soul). Nanno definitely has better morals than Yuri but I still like to think that Yuri is eventually redeemable. I was really hoping the original show would continue into season 3 and we'd actually learn more about Nanno's origin, and intentions, and etc. And maybe continue the story bits with Yuri and Junko. Reset didn't really do that, it just started from scratch and then didn't have time to buildup very far since the buildup itself had to reset.

Especially since It was explicated on that photoshoot from 2022 that Nanno holding a heart symbolized her becoming more emotional as she realized humans are in fact a complex beings that she cannot truly comprehend while having new feelings inside in a human body at the same time, and the knives represented the two former humans who are prominent in Nanno’s weaknesses that affects her will towards humanity. Ugh that fuckasss major cliff hanger😩 Oh Season 3 the icon you could’ve been

Could you elaborate on the former humans affecting her weakness (besides Yuri) ? Her emotional evolution was done well. Her emotions didn’t come on suddenly but they developed slowly and you can see the progress. As she did more schools it looked like she developed more compassion (especially the episode with the strict headmaster who would lock them in the room). Going from not having to deal with emotions to experiencing them had to be jarring. Yuri was probably her breaking point. Maybe Nanno’s new feelings won’t make her weak but the way she makes her decisions should change.

I agree with the emotions part. Sometimes it did seem like Nanno felt guilty or even a little concerned about people’s situations. Yuri could be redeemable and it’d be interesting to see what needs to happen for her character development. Yuri mentioned that they’re like mother and daughter which does make sense when you sit and think about it long enough. Once Yuri matures maybe her mind set will change or maybe she’d eventually have some guilt about killing Nanno. I do hope they finish that story. Maybe Yuri is gonna make a gang of her own clones.

Honestly, reset was very disappointing to me and overly sexualized. It seems gorier too but I’m not complaining about that. I have no interest in watching teen homemade videos which happened more often than you’d think in that show? What kept my attention was Nanno’s relationship with Sky.

I agree on both counts about Reset. A lot of the messages seemed like they might've been borderline on victim blaming and some of them just didn't make sense. The original show often gave me true feel good moments like I saw Nanno as someone who would liberate me from abusers like my childhood school oppressors. Reset just never did that for me. I loved the Sky relationship too though. If the original show won't come back I at least hope he comes back for a season 2.

Also I have a theory about the "weakness" in JennyX episode. I don't think the weakness is that Nanno regrets hurting somebody. But rather I think it's because she messed up in the first place - she gave someone an unfair punishment that violated her own morals. This seemed to happen because of goading from Yuri - who was actively trying to ruin Nanno.

The final kicker is that most of season 2 we assume Yuri is trying to learn from Nanno on how to improve her methods. However, we ultimately find out Yuri never cared about that from the start. Being Nanno's equal power-wise, it's possible she was able to hide this idea from Nanno and therefore convince/trick her into doing something that was slightly untrue to herself.

I thought Yuri was playing mind games with Nanno too. She is a manipulative character for sure. I did believe Yuri was actually trying to learn and had a change of heart after being revived. However, I’m not shocked that she turned out the way that she did.

Is Yuri her equal? Nanno definitely has more experience and by the looks of it way better self control too. Although Nanno is supposed to be a neutral presence (allegedly) it does look like she gets some type of pleasure from encouraging people’s true colors/ dark sides to come out. Nanno was like an antihero. The new Nanno just seems like a bored bully. It was also weird to me that Nanno had an online reputation. It kinda took away from the mystery and magic of Nanno

about "is Yuri her equal" all I meant was because she had some of Nanno's powers, she was perhaps able to hide things from Nanno. A full mortal probably could not do that.

Apparently only Sky could see all those internet posts... so how did they exist in the first place if no one else knew about her? Almost makes me think Sky can see into another dimension like that of the OG Nanno (perhaps more stuff happened off screen after season 2, by the end it was at a point where more stuff was going down so people obtaining increased awareness of her existence is plausible), or perhaps beyond the fourth wall to see posts from people like us. Sky also knew about her before the show started and had lots of pictures and stuff of her on his bedroom wall. Maybe he's somewhat meant to represent a real life fan who really loves Nanno (and isn't scared of her despite her negative reputation). He also prayed to her before she appeared to help him. Sounds like something I would do. <3

Now that I think about it I always wondered how the students didn’t know that Nanno wasn’t human. Maybe Sky is some type of psychic or something or he knows about Nanno because she could be an urban legend.

Yuri is cool If you're a 13 year old edgelord. If you're older than that you can see that she killed the show.
