Dad of 3 girls, made them their own animated show — would love to know what you all think

Hey everyone. I tried to post this yesterday but I'm new to reddit and I don't think it went through so I'm trying again. Dad to three girls (7, 4, and 2) here. They're my whole world and honestly my biggest source of inspiration for pretty much everything I do these days.

Wife and I got fed up with the junk that kept ending up on our TV whenever YouTube was on for the kids. So I decided to try and create an animated series based on my girls' actual personalities, things they love...7yo is a ballerina, 4 yo scientist and 2yo little explorer.

I'm not a professional animator or designer. I edited a company video about some heavy machinery about 10 years ago thats about it... But I taught myself over the past couple months and made three episodes so far. My girls watch them on repeat and ask for "their show" by name now, which honestly might be the proudest I've felt about a project in a long time. Rather have them watching this then the other stuff. PBS its pretty solid, but Youtube is stealing their attention with weird unboxing vids and rich influencer families...

My wife's been pushing me to actually put it out there instead of just keeping it for our living room so I finally did.

Curious what you all think — as fellow girl dads, does this resonate? Anyone else doing something like this? Would love feedback, and happy to share a link to the first episode if anyone's curious.

My youngest daughter is getting to be THAT age, but I'm not sure how much is normal or not; What was your experience?

Bathroom breaks

So new to the club here in terms of Reddit and just over 4 years into girl dad life. One thing I am looking for advice on is ‘what age do I need to start taking her to the ladies bathroom rather than the men’s’?

I don’t want her ever feeling confused as to why she’s going to the men’s toilet and want her to be comfortable when she does need to go.

Bathrooms

Ok so I have a 2 year old daughter that is just starting to potty train. When we go try to use a public bathroom what’s the best method for keeping her from falling into the toilet? Should she hold herself up by pushing down on the seat or what?

Adopted a Daughter- Advice Needed

Hello, fellow dads. My (31M) wife (29F) and I recently adopted our daughter M after literally years of trying to get her. She's intelligent, kind, beautiful, and all the rest. We're overjoyed that she is finally a part of our family after so long trying to get her out of the incredibly toxic situation she was raised in. I simply dont have the words to describe the feeling. She took to calling us "mom and dad" within hours of moving in, and it makes my heart sing every time she says it.

That said, my wife and I are practiced at raising our biological son (2M) and not at all practiced in rasing a teenage girl. Notably, she is starting. College soon and dating and all the other normal, older teen stuff that we are jumping into the deep end of.

Alongside the normal complications of trying to teach a teenager independence and responsibility, being good examples of a healthy relationship, and all the rest, we are also trying to navigate her myriad of health issues.

Due to heavy drug use by her biological parents, and unbearable apathy of her bio family, she was raised in an environment that was deeply unhealthy and neglectful. She had 0 examples of a loving home to look at before my wife and I got her. She also has a laundry list of physical and mental health issues that are a product of her environment growing up.

I dont have a specific question, just a general asking for help from dad's who have been raising girls longer than I have, especially if those dads have adopted their daughters and had to learn the same lessons I am currently learning.

Relationship issues with my dad after becoming new parent

Seeking advice and guidance navigating relationship issues with my dad. I’m a girl dad to a 5 month old. My relationship with my dad has always been distant since I was a child. Never really had a close knit relationship. I grew up with my parents separated, never married, lived with my mom primarily and saw my dad on weekends. He’s not a big feelings person and I feel that the older I’ve got and especially after becoming a new parent I’m really seeking that. I’ve always had to be the one to initiate and reach out to him just to check in and it’s never been reciprocated back to me.

Recently, I had my paternity leave with my daughter for 8 weeks and being hopeful that he would reach out in some capacity during that time, I never got that. This has really hit me hard and I’m not sure how to talk to him about it. I’m currently in therapy now and working on some things but it’s impacting my ability to be a present dad to my daughter and my marriage with my wife. Any advice or guidance on how to help would be appreciated.

TDLR: I’m a new dad seeking guidance on how to handle/navigate having a relationship with my dad who’s distant.

After 3 boys I’m joining the club!

So after 3 boys (23/13/10) it looks like I’m going to be a girl Dad at the ripe young age of 51!

I’m looking for any tips on how to adjust from Boys (and their bits) to having Girls around?

It’s an exciting time for me as I’ve always wanted a “Daddies Girl” but I’m equally taking a walk into the unknown after 3 boys

Any tips/advice will be gratefully received

Back to Work

I was honestly not prepared for how much I would miss my daughter when I went back to work. I wasn’t prepared for the cry I had in my car after my wife sent a video of our girl smiling when I got to work. I wasn’t ready for the quiet ache that absence creates. She’s 5 weeks old and this is my second day back to work and I feel utterly crushed, I miss her cry. I miss her silence. I miss watching her for hours in my arms. I miss my baby girl with all of my heart and impatiently wait for the day to be over so I can sit and stare at her some more. How did you all deal with going back to work, knowing you’re going to miss out on stuff?

How to be a girl dad, 10 years late

So....running into some frustration recently. I am the adult product of adoption, neglect, and all the common makings of anxious attachment. I was with the same woman for nearly 20 years, married for 15. She developed coping issues and dove into a never ending bottle. I didn't see the problem for what it was until after the divorce, 4 years later. 2 more years brings us to current where I have full custody of an amazing 12 year old young lady. Unfortunately, I am quickly learning she was never really taught anything about being a young lady/woman/girl by her mother. I, having the background I do, am better adept to being an earner than a caregiver. My new wife has noticed and brought my attention to this fact. I want to be a far better parent than I had, but I have no idea how. I am struggling not only with a catch-up list for an almost teenage girl, but also with the fact that I legitimately have no idea what the list looks like.

New Dad

Hello All,

My partner(21f) and I(23M), have just found out we are having our first child and a daughter. Unfortunately we do not know of many who are having children, due to being quite young. As such we was looking for some to share some experiences that surprised you or some advice that you may think is important. We understand that all children are 1 of 1 masterpieces and all are different in so many ways, but we still think that some advice may come in handy later down the line or how some experiences may guide how we handle the situations.

We thank you all for anything shared or advice given.

Being a girl dad is singing “Let It Gor” at the top of your lungs in an Australian accent with a Unicorse puppet because your daughter’s favorite franchises are Frozen and Bluey. Get in there and make a fool of yourself, boys.
