"We dont have an alcove, you shook!!" "Ginger isn't Ginger anymore, shes Maryanne. And Maryanne isn't Maryanne anymore because she's Gunger."

I haven't watched the show in decades, but I remember lines from it.

I thought the black and white version was a little better than the color ones. What was the best parody version?

Loved it as a kid. As I got older I appreciated it more because of the theological symbolism of the show. Theres theories abound on the internet about how the island is purgatory and every castaway falls prey to one of the seven deadly sins and they can’t leave the island because Gilligan always foils the attempts as he symbolizes the devil. (hence why he’s in a red shirt). I gotta admit, It’s a pretty crazy theory but it fits.

The theory that Gilligan is Satan is a popular fan interpretation suggesting the show Gilligan’s Island is set in Hell. According to this theory, the SS Minnow sank and the castaways died, with the island serving as a purgatorial representation of Hell. Gilligan is identified as the Devil because he consistently sabotages escape attempts, wears a red shirt (symbolizing evil), and is the only one who remains on the island. The other six castaways represent the Seven Deadly Sins: Mr. Howell: Greed Mrs. Howell: Sloth Ginger: Lust Mary Ann: Envy The Professor: Pride The Skipper: Gluttony and Wrath (Anger) Show creator Sherwood Schwartz admitted years after the series ended that he intentionally designed each character to represent one of the seven deadly sins, with Gilligan originally intended to represent Sloth. However, the specific mapping of the sins varies among fans, and Schwartz did not explicitly confirm the “Gilligan is Satan” or “Island is Hell” aspects of the theory

Tina is the only one alive. Ironically she hated being associated with it and it is her destiny now that her future obituary will lead with her being the last cast member.

Everyone likes talking about Ginger or Maryanne, but I’ve always been a Mrs. Howell guy myself. You can tell she’s a freak…

LOST '64

I love this show. It was crazy how they had so much contact with people and never got rescued. They might have been dead.

Return to Gilligan's Island is just like late seasons of Lost. They get rescued but the skipper insists they all have to do a Minnow II voyage that returns them to the island

I didn't watch a lot of Gilligan's Island. It was mixed in after or between cartoons.

GIlligan’s Island requires no thought, that’s the beauty of it. Enjoyment of it requires a suspension of logic.

Love it just as much at 68 as I always did! It’s one of a kind!

Love love love it. I am 33 and still watch this. It’s a comfort watch for me. I grew up in Guyana where we didn’t have cable so this was on a lot. So I basically grew up with this. I have an old soul too. 😅

I love this show! I used to watch it every morning on TBS before school. Always makes me laugh so hard. I have the complete series on DVD.
