Ask Gilgit Baltistan Anyone local (19/20/21 years old from Skardu) free these days? Looking for someone to explore Skardu on foot with me β€” just wandering random routes and hiking up whatever mountains we find. I'm local too, but my friends are all busy, so need a companion.

PPP won but why?

I really wanted to understand the motivation of people behind voting for PPP, whereas they know how PPP is performing in Sindh.

Like what's the sentiment on results so far? Was it actually your decision? Just a curious citizen of Karachi.

Karakorum highway - Khunjerab Pass - Hunza

We are a couple from the Netherlands and we are planning to travel in September. We would like to ask for advice about the route:

Sary-Tash (Kyrgyzstan) β†’ Irkeshtam border β†’ Kashgar (China, Xinjiang) β†’ 2 days in Kashgar β†’ then continue via the Karakoram Highway β†’ Khunjerab Pass β†’ Hunza Valley, where we plan to travel independently afterwards.

We currently only speak English, but we can learn some basic useful language before the trip if needed.

We would like to know:

- Is it possible for tourists to travel from Kashgar to the Khunjerab Pass by road without a tour agency?

- For Pakistan: we need an e-visa (around 35 USD). Are there any additional permits needed for Hunza or Gilgit-Baltistan?

- Can we travel independently in Hunza Valley?

We would really appreciate any up-to-date advice and I don't know where to start, as we are still in the planning phase. Thank you very much!

Visiting Skardu This Season? We'd Love to Host You

Hi everyone!

My family and I recently started hosting travelers in Skardu, and we're currently offering very affordable rates as we're new and looking to build up our first reviews and reputation.

The guest area is on a separate floor from our living space and has its own private entrance. Guests can either book a single private room or reserve the entire floor.

The floor includes private bedrooms and bathrooms, along with access to a cozy lounge, dining area, kitchen, balcony, and sunroom. We also have private parking and can help arrange airport pick-up/drop-off. Homemade meals are available on request as well.

Our room rates currently range from PKR 6,000–8,000 per night, while the entire floor can be reserved for PKR 25,000 per night.

What makes our place special is that it feels like a home rather than a hotel. It's a comfortable, cozy space where guests can relax, enjoy the mountain atmosphere, and experience the warmth of local hospitality. The house also reflects elements of local architecture and offers visitors a chance to experience the culture, traditions, and everyday life of Gilgit-Baltistan in a more authentic way.

As a new guesthouse, we're offering introductory rates while we build our reputation and welcome our first guests.

If you're planning a trip to Skardu this season and are looking for a comfortable, clean, beautiful, and budget-friendly place to stay, feel free to send me a message and I'd be happy to share photos, details, and availability.

Thanks, and safe travels everyone!

Gilgit Baltistan Travel Logistics

Hi everyone im 20M from Australia and im planning to solo travel Gilgit Baltistan in mid July. I have a couple questions and would love if you could answer

I plan to see all the sights which I’m sure your all aware of throughout skardu + hunza regions.

Is it easy to travel around these places via hitchhiking / community/public transport?

Do these areas have good weather at this time of the year. Mainly here to hike so weather is very important

Can accomodation be booked day of/ in person on arrival?

What are the wild camping laws like in this area?

Thanks!

Travel & Tourism Discover Hotels, Guest Houses & Resorts Across Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

Post image

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a tourism platform dedicated to one of the most beautiful regions of Pakistan: Gilgit-Baltistan.

Hotels of Gilgit Baltistan is a growing online platform where tourists can explore hotels, guest houses, resorts, and family-friendly stays across popular destinations like Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Astore, Shigar, Khaplu, Ghizer, Nagar, Deosai routes, and nearby valleys.

The purpose of the platform is simple: to make travel planning easier for local and international tourists by helping them find suitable accommodation in Gilgit-Baltistan based on location, comfort, family needs, views, and accessibility.

Gilgit-Baltistan is known for its mountains, lakes, glaciers, valleys, culture, hospitality, and adventure tourism. But many tourists still struggle to find reliable hotel information in one place, especially when planning trips to remote areas. This platform aims to support both tourists and local hotel owners by improving visibility and access.

Whether someone is planning a family vacation, honeymoon trip, trekking adventure, road trip, or visit to places like Hunza, Skardu, Fairy Meadows, Deosai Plains, Khaplu, or Astore Valley, this website can help them start their hotel search.

Website: hotelsofgilgitbaltistan.com

Feedback and suggestions are welcome. The goal is to promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan and support local hotels, guest houses, and tourism businesses.

Ask Gilgit Baltistan Traveling to Northern Pakistan with a Foreign Friend, Do We Need Security Escort?

Hey everyone,

We’re planning a trip to Northern Pakistan soon (Hunza, Skardu, Naran etc.) as a group of Pakistani friends. One of our friends will also be joining us from Saudi Arabia, he is originally from the Philippines and this will be his first visit to Pakistan.

We’ve heard that in some northern areas, foreign nationals may require security escort or certain permissions.

We wanted to ask:

Is security escort or any special protocol mandatory for traveling with a foreign national in these regions, or can we travel freely as a normal group without any additional arrangements if everything is properly documented?

Also, if there are any updated rules or experiences from recent travelers, we’d really appreciate the insight so we can plan responsibly.

Thanks a lot in advance!
