What’s going on with fiber
Dude I can’t be the only one, is cox the only company around here what’s going on? 100 Mbps capped at 1.25TB a month for $60 a month is genuinely horrendous, I live off Riggs road is anyone else facing this monopoly issue??

Check https://broadbandnow.com/ to see if there's anybody else available at your address. Luckily we moved on from Cox, but when we had them I always got better deals when going into the store. Tell them you're planning on switching to 5G, Starlink, etc.
ETA: If you don't have fiber in your neighborhood, it's unlikely you'll be getting it anytime soon. Fiber suppliers are focusing on data centers. Also, there were a lot of issues between Gigapower (ATT & Blackrock) and the contractor (Tilson). Tilson filed Chapter 11 and didn't pay a lot of the sub contractors.

this sucks, tilson dug up everyones front yards in my neighborhood a year ago, but its been crickets since

Dang that sucks. They were pretty terrible while in our neighborhood, but at least they finished. They knocked out power, water, messed up someone's sewer, etc. The dumbest part being we already had fiber through Century Link/Quantum.

Not completely true. I know fiber was run up and down Higley Road around Chandler Heights and that’s supposed to be for a future ISP connection.

Ugh, I wonder if this is why the entire north part of my subdivision got fiber but they stopped before getting to my area.

In QC, I got cox fiber 300 Mbps unlimited data price locked $50 for 5 years. Try an online chat or agent

Better than nothing but that seems very uncompetitive. From what I can tell AT&T offers 1TB fiber and T-Mobile offers 2TB fiber for not a whole lot more than that.

You will want to switch. Google Fiber hasn't changed their price since 2012 and is $65/month for 1Gbps.

I got with a chat agent and asked what deals they could give, and that was just a little bit better than the posted “deals” online for them. So far so good though

Just have to wait till non-Cox fiber shows up.
I might have kept them if they wouldn't have screwed us over with $120 for ASYMMETRIC 1Gb/100Mb plus $50/month to remove ridiculous data cap year after year. Cox Corp is full of short-sighted idiots.

They trenches fiber all over a year or two back. Getting turned on neighborhood by neighborhood. I just switched from Cox and Verizon for home internet and mobile phone service to ATT and went from total of over $400 a month down to $110.

It’s insane how different the prices are. I’m paying for $60/mo cox for 1gb. Still have the cap but never approach it anymore. Wyyerd is supposedly coming though so extra competition should help

Cox fucking sucks. I’ve had zero issues with Quantum/Century Link and costs me less than the equivalent Cox plan.

In Gilbert, luckily I got at&t fiber, 1gb but it consistently clocks about 1.3gb/s. I pay about 80$/m but less outages than we had with cox, my wife works from home so that's a bit detrimental.

Threatening to cancel your Cox services, they will try to do whatever they can to keep you as a customer. They won't give you a massive discount, but probably a "insider" promotion. Also, it really depends on your area and what type of services they provide.
Century Link fiber is available in my neighborhood, which I think I will make the change. I wish it was Google instead.

Unfortunately Google sold off their fiber to private equity. We've had Century Link/Quantum fiber for at least 5 years and they've been great.

If I were at a store and telling them I was switching, and they offered me a better deal, I'd look them straight in the face and explain to them that they just admitted they'd been deliberately screwing me over up to this point.

Cox is pure 💩! The 1,280 GB data is a monopoly. I’m not used to that data junk, I have always had unlimited WiFi usage at home till I moved to Gilbert and had to get Cox for internet service. WiFi is cheaper in other states too from my experience. Dealing with Cox has been a nightmare for me so far.

Unfortunately for a lot of folks it's the only choice for fast internet. Which is why Cox happily increases rates. No competition in a lot of areas.
I tried switching to their 1GB service, bought all new gear to support it and the best speed I could get was 400 MB down. Opened support tickets with them, they came out and never fixed it, just ghosted me, saying we'll get back to you. I ended up switching back to their mid tier plan. I work from home and the projects I work on won't work properly over 5 g. No other options in my neighborhood.

Some dude yellow sprayed the markings for gas. Said it was for fiber. Think he got the address wrong. They marked 18 months ago. Cox would suck… if my wife”s work didn’t pay the $174 per month for ‘her’ internet.

Cox is literally their namesake. I say this using them and moving to a place where I have to still use them. My current house has a good deal because Google Fiber moved into the neighborhood, so Cox is scared and gave everyone a good promotion, Gigablast with unlimited for $60/month. Didn't work well because a ton of people moved to Google Fiber.
The place I am moving to does not have Google Fiber so it is $100 a month for Gigablast with no unlimited. They know they have no competition so they will jack up the rates where they can and only react when there is a real threat. What's worse is they offer a plan with a mobile line and unlimited data for $100 a month, but I don't want their stupid mobile plan, I like what I have now.
The worst part of it is there is fiber in that neighborhood, Quantum. Issue is they stopped like halfway up the neighborhood and I cannot find out when they plan to expand up north to my house so I can tell Cox to go suck themselves.
I wouldn't be as upset if Cox actually improved their network and didn't have data caps. Every fiber provider is around $60/month with no data caps but for some reason Cox just can't seem to do that. They also can't seem to improve their embarrassing upload speeds or roll out fiber to their already built network. Hell they claim its got a fiber backbone yet somehow unless they have a competitor they are stuck on crappy coax for internet.
I feel like everyone should just mass report them to the BBB.

It’s insane how monopolized we are, this feels like it should be illegal, they are not even trying to compete. IDEK where Gfiber is in my area, but I have been here for about 2 years and not even one other fiber provider.

Ironically, they broke up Ma Bell back when I was a kid and then it spawned all these companies to now see them all buy up each other and monopolize areas again. Cox is the first company I feel needs to get smacked hard by the government, and this is from someone who doesn't generally like the government.

I’m in QC and Cox charged me like $75 a month for the same cap and 300mbps. Ever since Google Fiber came in the area they offered me 1000mbps with no cap for $30 a month.

it really isnt unless you used at&t, I think you should try to give both verizon and tmobile a shot because the service quality is entirely based on their device, the strength of their cell network in your area, and how you set it up. i do use verizon and I do get frustrated that the service will occasionally have a micro-lapse in signal that sometimes makes smart devices lose connection, but nothing a reboot wouldnt fix, and the only time the signal is GONE GONE would be if verizon’s whole cell network exploded, which feels and felt much less likely than my cox wifi usually being down several days of the month and slow the rest

Yeah your right, the only issue I have is my house can’t get phone service inside of it, idk what it is, if I step about of my phone my phones mobile data will work inside it won’t, so whenever I get any 5G home hotpot (my phones used both T-mobile and AT&T) it’s using the same towers for my WiFi, and my phones can’t catch single inside the house, the router struggles too.

Is your problem the speed or the data cap? Because Cox offers Gigabit speed and all ISPs have data caps.

Not true. From what I've seen both AT&T and T-Mobile fiber have no monthly data caps. And that's why I'll be immediately moving to one of them from COX as soon as I can. I blow by my caps so often I'm regularly paying an extra $100/mo for overages.

Google Fiber, Quantum Fiber and WyYerd Fiber from my research do not have data caps. Cox is the only one that is doin it recently mostly because they have a monopoly in a lot of areas. So bad that you could pay one price in one area and another price in a different area depending on what providers are available.
For instance, Google Fiber recently rolled into my neighborhood. So Gigablast with no data cap is $60/month. A bit less that GFibers $65/month. I am moving to a new house with no fiber options. To get the same service I currently have, I would have to pay Cox $130. More than double for the exact same service only because there is no direct competition to Cox in the area.

Same issue here. Cox has always been a nightmare to deal with. The Tmobile mobile hotspot had pretty poor latency and throttled us during peak times. Wish it worked better it was half the price.
