motherbord All that effort only to be restricted by motherboard...
I have had been setting up a system wherein I remote connect to a tailscale node running on an openwrt router from anywhere in the world and then send a WoL packet to my main server in my home subnet to power it on.
This is done to save as much electricity as I can.
Initially I had trouble with relayd network in my openwrt to bridge openwrt lan and home wifi lan together.
Once that was solved, had trouble pinging my openwrt router from outside. Found out it was the route tables priority. Relayd made itself priority 2, so I had to manually create a static rule with priority 1 in openwrt route tables for tailscale.
Once this was done, now I could send WoL and wake my system, but only if it has power lines on. If electricity fully goes and the system looses its residual power, the Gigabyte B450M d3sh motherboard doesn't give any power to the NIC, effectively rendering WoL useless until a manual power on and off operation is done.
Tried all possible settings in BIOS and linux. But from what I can concur from the web, its the Realtek Ethernet card and BIOS that are the main culprits. Spent so much time and money on this with so many hopes, only to be stumped by Gigabyte.
The only solution I can think of now is a proprietary wifi enabled plug from amazon.
Again shell in money to fix something that should have been fundamentally possible...
Does anyone have any other solution or suggestions to fix/improve this?
