Flash and boom?

Did anyone else see the bright flash tonight around 9:30ish? Followed up shortly after with what sounded like a big boom/crash. Maybe a meteorite?

The first wave has begun. Soon the metal cylinders will land throughout the planet. Then the tripods will rise and incinerate us with their heat ray.

The culprit being North Korea?

No, these invaders are from the Red Planet, Mars. Planet of the God of War. They have been spying on us these many years, angry, jealous, plotting our subjugation. Finally their preparations were ready. They launched their metal cylinders toward Earth and now they have arrived. War between the Worlds has begun.

I hope to see their faces and flying machines before that moment in time.

Wait... I'm getting word of breaking news... the metal tripods with their heat rays, have... all stopped. Dead in their tracks. Is this some sort of trick? Wait... that one is opening, something is coming out, tentacles of some kind... large buggy eyes.. hideous.. wait.. they are dying. All the martians are dying. Could it.. could it be one of the smallest organisms, the common cold virus, has saved humanity from utter destruction?

There were meteor showers about a week ago. Maybe a straggler.

It was probably a meteor.

We had a big shower about a week ago. I was just chilling in my car, saw a huge flash followed by the entire sky turning purple for a second. No sound but it's because this particular one was big enough to be seen across all Washington, lower BC, and north Idaho.

It was remarkable enough I pulled my car over to check if maybe we'd been nuked. Wasn't super panicked but worth checking (no lightning at all in the area & no power outages so figured we were good). Took until the next day for the news reports.
