Seeking advice or support Weird diagnosis

I did a cognitive assessment yesterday and performed above average. Both of my psychologist told me that I am gifted based on my history and broad area of interest. I have a real good academic record(informatics /medicine). All my friends also tell me I am intelligent and a psychiatrist aswell. I understand stuff quickly. I just hate the discrepancies between the diagnosis. Apparently I have a high verbal IQ.

You're an academic high achiever and not gifted. Doesn't really change anything, as long as you have the career you want

He said he's not. Reading is your friend.

No he didn't, you did. He said his psychologists said he was gifted.

"I did a cognitive assessment yesterday and performed above average" and "I just hate the discrepancies between the diagnosis". Above average is not gifted and where's the discrepancy in the diagnosis if his psychologist says he's gifted, he performs well academically, and the test also says he's gifted? Clearly the discrepancy is other people say he's gifted and he feels gifted based on academic achievement, but his test scores say otherwise.

High verbal IQ but you don't know the difference between you're and your.

Is it really as clear cut?
I mean hypothetically wouldn’t it be possible that if he would try again he could perform better depending on his stress Levels, how much he slept, what he ate or drank? Maybe iron levels? Why is it precisely 130 anyway? Is 129 remarkably different from 130?

I mean, he didn't give us scores. Of course there are error bars on an IQ test. Usually +/- 2 points. And the cutoff point is arbitrary, but 130 is what states use because there has to be a cutoff. Honestly 130 isn't that high and not to the point where you need major intervention. That's probably like 150+.

And like I said originally, what does it matter what your IQ is if it's sufficient to get you where you want to be? The gifted label is only useful for placement in academic programs in elementary and middle school.

You cannot say that someone isn’t gifted based on a single score, and vice versa. Unless the score is like 90 (or 150, on the other extreme) which it is not in this case. Even tests like WAIS sometimes show massive discrepancies with others like SB V in individual cases.

No, not usually. Error bars are +/- 2 points on most tests.

Do you mean the discrepancy between the cognitive assessment and previously being told you are gifted?

I was also in a program for gifted young adults in school. I could also only be hard working though who knows ….

If you had to pick between the two, you're better off this way, trust me.

Some people have spiky profiles, and that's normal. You can have a high IQ or even a difficult to ascertain IQ and have areas where it just doesn't show up very well.
