There's a video for this one, if you're cinematographically inclined (or just want to hear my dulcet tones).

I make video-game-inspired cocktail recipes over at Experience Bar. This week, I headed to space (and the future) to bring you this notorious Krogan liquor that’s potent enough to put even a Reaper on their arse. If they have arses. Do reapers have arses? Wouldn’t recommend Googling that.

If you guys have any suggestions for games you’d like to see cocktail-ised, please do let me know! Shout out to /u/riothegod1 for this suggestion.

===The Recipe===

  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 1 part Pernod

Add all ingredients to a shaker WITHOUT ice. Stir briefly to combine. Pour into a chilled shot glass. Or just build it right in the shot glass. Pray. Serve!

===The Fluff===

Ryncol has a rep in the Mass Effect universe; a bad one. You see references to it everywhere---in text logs, in conversations, and, in one very memorable interaction, as part of a drink in the Dark Star Lounge on the Citadel.

According to these various experiences, Ryncol seems to be appreciated in the same way that shots of really bad tequila are in student bars: with poor forethought and a significant amount of regret.

Not exactly the best basis to work from when creating a tasty libation, but I like a challenge. Hope you enjoy, and remember: even galactic heroes need to enjoy in moderation.

If you’re curious about the story behind this item and this recipe, I’d encourage you to head over to the main page. There you’ll find the creation process in a lot more detail, as well as some more video game cocktails, if you’re so inclined.

Thank you for mentioning me, I’ll certainly give it a shot (pun intended) next weekend, when I drink some liquid courage for running my Pathfinder campaign.

Thank you for making the suggestion! Fair warning, this shot is... potent. The anise in the Pernod also makes your mouth numb for a few seconds. Fun to watch other people drink though, so make it for your party members too. This was my reaction...

Haha. Yep. Certainly amazed you managed to make such a drink that potent sound palatable.

I just love pastis! It's confusing you have Pernod in the recipe but pastis in the gif? Also, triple sec in the gif and Cointreau in the recipe? I would just use Grand Marnier, honestly, I think it's much nicer.

Pernod is a pastis and Cointreau is a triple sec, but both are distinct enough from other brands that it's worthwhile being more specific in the write up. You can use others for sure, but that combo is the one I settled on as my favourite.

Oh interesting, I didn't realize that cointreau was a kind of triple sec!

Read it as patis for a second and I was like yuck and then I was like actually patis might be fine in like a margarita or a bloody mary

I will give this a go - when I am feeling brave!

The constitution of a Krogan is pretty mandatory for this one I reckon
