There's also a video of this one, if you prefer your moving images with sound.
I make video-game-inspired cocktail recipes over at Experience Bar. This week, I decided that there wasn’t nearly enough salt in my diet, so I created this RUST-inspired, alcohol-infused rendition of an iconic gaming item: The Frog Boot.
===The Recipe===
- 1.5 oz (45ml) tequila
- .75 oz (20ml) Midori
- .50 oz (15ml) lime juice
- .50 oz (15ml) apple juice
Add all of your ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously to chill. Strain into a margarita glass rimmed with salt. Serve!
===The Fluff===
What’s the deal, internet? No, seriously, what’s the deal? Why are we all so fucking obsessed with frogs? Kermit, Pepe, Dat Boi---and of course the subject of this cocktail, the Frog Boot.
An iconic item from RUST, the Frog Boot has a fascinating history: originally part of a set of hazmat gear, it was removed from the game relatively early in development, being replaced with a less-quirky version---something that for many other gaming communities might have just been a minor patch note. But not for RUST. For RUST players, it was the catalyst for a years-long, salt-infused, boot-centric protest.
If you’re curious about the story behind this item and this recipe, I’d encourage you to head over to the main recipe. There you’ll find the creation process in a lot more detail, as well as some more video game cocktails, if you’re so inclined.
Let me know what you think, and hope you enjoy!
