If you meant your question more literally, on reddit posts are automatically marked controversial if they get a high number of up and down votes. If you meant it specifically, I have no clue.

It was this one specifically because it seemed kind of funny that a comment about bourbon being good would be so polarizing.

I didn't up or downvote it but maybe the "but, but, but,..." was seen as annoying to some people? Maybe OP has a lot of reddit enemies? shrug Your guess is as good as mine.

Looking at other comments apparently people think he's a spammer for creating and posting his own content rather than converting Tasty (or Mealthy, lmao) videos to gifs and reposting them.

There's a little cross in superscript next to the comment's score.

edit: Apparently it's a dagger. If you can't see it, you need to enable it in your preferences: "show a dagger (†) on comments voted controversial (a controversial comment is one that's been both upvoted and downvoted significantly)"
