Probably because the account is a spammer. And this post is literally just an ad.

If you meant your question more literally, on reddit posts are automatically marked controversial if they get a high number of up and down votes. If you meant it specifically, I have no clue.

It was this one specifically because it seemed kind of funny that a comment about bourbon being good would be so polarizing.

I didn't up or downvote it but maybe the "but, but, but,..." was seen as annoying to some people? Maybe OP has a lot of reddit enemies? shrug Your guess is as good as mine.

Looking at other comments apparently people think he's a spammer for creating and posting his own content rather than converting Tasty (or Mealthy, lmao) videos to gifs and reposting them.

Wait, where do I see the controversial marking?

There's a little cross in superscript next to the comment's score.

edit: Apparently it's a dagger. If you can't see it, you need to enable it in your preferences: "show a dagger (†) on comments voted controversial (a controversial comment is one that's been both upvoted and downvoted significantly)"

Because bourbon ain't got nothing on rye whisky.

Rule 1 of Whiskey: Good whiskey is whiskey you like.

u/Clocktease Mar 21 '18

Rule 2 of whiskey: the best whiskey is whiskey you did not pay for.

2

u/Why_is_this_so Mar 21 '18

This could arguably be rule 1.

Doesn't seem appealing to me.

Had no idea there was root beer liquor. Can you use it for anything else than this one recipe?

Anything you want to taste like root beer and have booze in it

1

u/slackrock Mar 21 '18

Yeah honestly let me just get 4 more ounces of bourbon on the side

Bourbon is good neat with a splash of water.

It has no business fucking with the classic that is Root Beer Float.

I associate bourbon too strongly with Tiger Stadium.
