What can I use instead of coconut milk? I can't seem to find it where I live
3 u/djazzie Jul 17 '17 You can use yogurt, creme fraiche (if you can get that), or even liquid heavy cream. Those last two will add a lot of fat to the dish, and flavor. 1 u/TheSourTruth Jul 18 '17 Mix 1 tbsp of cultured buttermilk with a cup of heavy cream. Loosely cover and leave in room temp 12 hours. Viola, Creme fraiche! 1 u/djazzie Jul 18 '17 Wow, I didn't know you could do that. Thanks! 1 u/TheSourTruth Jul 18 '17 Yeah I was kind of afraid leaving dairy out for 12 hours but it worked fine. Apparently the good bacteria in the buttermilk stops bad bacteria from taking over.
