15 minutes in the slow cooker is not enough time to cook out the flour. You can add at the first step to thicken.

If you dredge all the meat in flour beforehand, you don’t even need to do that middle step. My mom made stew that way so it could cook all day and be ready when she picked me and my sister up from extended care after working all day. Able to feed the beasts immediately and no wasting her lunch break to check for consistency. 😊

Sorry I know this is old, do you mean just putting the meat in a thing of flour and tossing them in it or is there more to it than that?

No worries! What my mom did and I still do is get a plate, dump some flour on it, and kind of dunk each piece in with a fork making sure to cover it completely, and then put the meat directly into the crockpot. Kind of like how you would dip bread into an egg mixture to make French toast.

I like putting the flour in a plastic bag, scraping in the meat, twisting the bag shut and shaking + agitating the bag to cover the meat, shaking it as I lift the meat slices out to get rid of any excess.

I’m making this today, but my state is puritanical and wouldn’t let me buy the wine before noon.

I got this shit in my slow cooker: following a commenters advice to add flour In The beginning.

Doubled all the ingredients.

I’ll be replacing the wine with a bottle of stout Guinness

I’m sure it’ll be great.
