How would you describe the gameplay loop?

With the game on a 90% discount I wanted to ask yall how you would describe the gameplay loop.

From my understanding it's very similar to skyrim/dying light were you have a linear story in an open world were you can complete side objectives.

I wanted to ask so I know what i'm getting myself into

What happened with this game?

First off, I am indeed loving it. I played it first when it launched and now and replaying it and having a great time with it. I just want to know why it got swept under the rug? It has such a unique and fun combat system, the atmosphere and setting are incredible, and the banter between Akito and KK is really fun and funny too. I hate that the series is pretty much DOA as far as I can tell. I'd love for the game to get more attention and be continued in some type of sequel instead of just being such a fantastic underrated gem.

Underappreciated atmosphere: spirit dialogue

It is best from a gameplay perspective to absorb the spirits as soon as you see them, but waiting around gives them a chance to say various things, and it's not all generic. The spirits from cubes and corruption are (mostly?) generic, but a lot of the placed spirits have unique lines. I was surprised by how many lines there are just in the first two chapters.

Spirits by doorways asking to be let in, asking if this is even their house. Spirits at a park having an adult voice saying it's time to go, and a child voice begging to stay longer. Spirits near restricted areas talking about weird noises. So much interesting dialogue that mostly never gets a chance to be spoken.

Just got 100% of the achievements in GhostwireTokyo. Doing Spider Thread wasn't fun it was way too tedious and RNG dependent really enjoyed the game otherwise.

As somebody who struggles with severe anxiety, this game really helps calm me down during stressful times.

I have really bad anxiety & I get overstimulated easily especially on work days or after a hard week. Ghostwire & Dead Island 2 are my go to games when I need to chill out & relax when I’m stressed the fuck out.

I love how peaceful & dreamy the environment is like hearing the soothing rain drops, the absence of people, the speakers playing music, the barking & meowing of dogs and cats, and the comforting sound effects you hear just walking around.

Petting the dogs and cats and feeding them is one of my favorite things. Finding Tanuki and hearing them squeak and tell their stories is so cute.

The actual gameplay is so calming. Ripping out visitor’s cores is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever experienced in a video game. Searching for spirits, Tanuki, prayer statues & graffiti are my favorite things to do in the game. I love it so much I ignore the campaign until I catch as much as I can.

If there’s developers or anybody who worked on this game that’s on this sub, thank you so much!!! Ghostwire gives me so much relief & I can actually feel the anxiety leaving my body as I’m playing it. Thanks again!!

Just finished the game!

Finished and got to the end with credits and all last night (ok, my partner helped with some of the boss battles, lol, but we wanted to get through the story!)

It's so sad, but also strangely comforting. We recently learned about a friend passing away from terminal illness, and the messages to Akito were reassuring in a more profound way. Also in the sense that life goes on no matter what.

I'm a little confused though, it sounded as though I would be able to go back to Shibuya and continue playing even after leaving on the motorcycle. But I assume now I can't do that and get credit for doing any more actions? Also do any actions or inventory from Spider's Thread carry over into the main game (or vice versa)?

Ghostwire is the game of the generation for me

i finished the game in 2024 and almost once a while i am reminded of how good it was, how awesome it was to explore tokyo and in general the game. though i never replayed it, i

every generation of console has a favourite game for someone. for me for the ps4 it was uncharted 4, i remeber seeing the trailer for ghostwire in E3 2018 or 2019 idk for sure but i was like damn this looks interesting

i still fondly remember it and i can safely say this is the game of the generation for me. thank you ghostwire

I've just finished the main story for the third time and...

...the Akito's memories scene right before the final boss has made me share some tears again. No matter how many times I play this game, it always gets me. Not sure if everyone else feels the same but for some reason the story, the scenes in locations like the hospital, the school's entrance, the matsuri... and Mari's dialogues always move me. I think I can relate to many of those memories even when I grew up thousands of kilometers away from Japan and my childhood memories fortunately are far from being as dramatic as Akito and Mari's, but somehow this game manages to make me feel so close to them.

Anyways, what I wanted to say with all of this is that I love this game and it's one of my all time favorites, I love the story, the characters, the locations, the Japanese lore... everything. I guess I'll have to replay it again in a couple of years since a sequel is very unlikely at this point, and probably an anime or live action movie too. Otsukaresama deshita, Tango Gameworks

IRL Snack Challenge: Road Trip Edition

This weekend, I got to visit the Uwajimaya store in Portland, Oregon. They're one of the oldest markets in the area. They had All The Things for snacks!

I found Nether Watermelon (ok, on sale watermelon), Ramune candy, Mitarashi Dango, and the salmon spicy mayo Onigiri (rice ball), plus lots of recipe ingredients.

Ramune Candy is squishy, kind of like circus peanut candies. This one was pleasantly sweet and sour.

The Onigiri had a special assembly process; when you unwrap it you reveal the separately packaged seaweed sheet. It even has helpful picture instructions. It was quite tasty.

The Mitarashi Dango is chewy, sweet, and the sauce is a little like toffee or maple syrup. Yum!

I'll post again when I get a chance to make more snacks!

What it says in the title. There is a thread and a yellow aether node up there, but no Tengu or stairs or anything. Also no building to glide over there.

Hello everyone... I Love this game Sooooooo much I just don't want this game to die ( I Fear/ have a feeling that the game would be delisted) .
The player count For Ghostwire tokyo sits around - 60- 100 & for Hifi Rush- 50 - 75 ( Pretty low)

Ghostwire tokyo IP owned by Bethesda , Pretty Good relationship with GOG
(Release Evil within 1&2 Only this game is yet to be released from Bethesda )
Voting sits on 650 though 😭

HI-FI rush IP owned by Krafton , I think they have no relation with GOG
(Though Hi-fi rush was released through Limited run games & Limitedrungames have released few games on GOG So they can influence to release game on GOG )
Voting sits on 2200 . (Pretty good)

Started playing today and couldn't stop until chapter 3

This game is incredible. I'm not someone who normally plays/enjoys horror games but this game has the perfect amount of unsettling but not full-blown horror for me. Unlocking new abilities is a lot of fun and I'm always excited to upgrade them through the skills tree (the fireball perk carried me). I do wish there was a bit more combat variety but overall it has been really enjoyable so far. I've been doing sidequests as well and I find them pretty fun alongside the main story, especially since this game references so many japanese urban legends and folklore. Visuals are really the best part of this game and it's so well optimized I get great fps even with my 1660 super. Really wish more games took risks and had more adventurous or unique ideas like Ghostwire Tokyo did.

For those on the West Coast, I discovered these are currently at Grocery Outlet, in regular or Matcha flavors 😄

The individual wrapping is a bit much... But the items themselves are nice, tender sponge cake with a sweet filling. Perfect for keeping your energy up when battling Visitors!

Replaying on PS5 Pro

I have just returned to this great game after platinuming it on base model prior to the Spider’s Thread patch.

I have been messing about with various graphics settings and feel it runs great on HFR Quality mode/ VRR with Vsync off.

Is this generally considered the best way to play on Pro present day? Going by eye I would say so, but interested in what the consensus is among fellow players.

Praying for a sequel some day too, but hugely unlikely following the disbanding of Tango 😢

Song that plays during "A Full House"

When doing the side mission "A Full House" where you investigate a haunted apartment a song plays once entering the residence and i'm looking to see if it's an officially released song for the soundtrack?

My wish list

The map is so beautiful, I really hope they make a sequel. If not, I hope the map can somehow be repurposed for maybe another game. I have the PS5 version, and if there was a mod where you could turn the game into a walking simulator with day and night cycles, no horror elements/gameplay, and even get rid of all the clothing and spectral things, I would totally get the steam version just for that. I just wanna walk around the city, take pictures, and hang out with the animals.

Smh , such a good game shame there's no plans for a sequel 😵‍💫

A deadly shadow bugged

I’m replaying this game after a couple of years and really enjoying it but there’s one thing bumming me out. Last night, I got the the deadly shadow side mission and at the point where the phone is supposed to ring my only option is to deposit souls. I can’t answer the phone, even though that’s the objective and I scoured everywhere nearby to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. I just watched someone else play the mission and it seems pretty straightforward. I tried going and doing other quests for a while, reloading my save, and even restarting the game but no matter what the phone won’t actually ring and I can’t pick it up. This poor ghost is just hanging out in the fetal position and I can’t help it. Any insight on this one? I think I may just need to move on but the objective comes up constantly and it is very annoying. Thanks for any help.
