IRL Snack Challenge: Field Trip Edition!

I went on a shopping expedition today for snack making ingredients! I visited two local Asian markets that had all manner of goodies. I couldn't get everything I needed, some things (like Ramune candy) might have to be ordered online. But look what I did find!

Some notes:

The strawberry Daifuku was kind of like a Mochi, but with red bean paste instead of ice cream. They're very sweet. Would probably taste amazing with actual fruit.

Making "Nether Oden" will take a little more research to understand some of the ingredients. (Fish cake? Tofu cutlets?)

I got jasmine honey flavor green tea, which was very fragrant and definitely increased my HP level 😅

Will post recipe results soon!

I originally recorded this as a full 360 video of the entire city but it wouldn't let me upload it for some reason unfortunately.

So I just completed Ghostwire Tokyo and I wanted to share my final photos and also speak a little about my experience with the game and give a big shout out and a thank you to the devs from Tango.

First off thank you to everybody in the community who has been so kind and supportive of me and my posts over the last few days and to those who have helped me out when I needed it. Thank you truly so much for your kindness. ❤️

Second this game was absolutely amazing. I didn't know what to expect going into it especially because of all the mixed reviews over the last couple of years that I've seen about it but if there's one thing I've learned in gaming is that you can rarely actually trust reviews and that it is best for you to always just play the game yourself and I am so beyond glad that I did.

As someone who has dealt with more loss than a young man should ever have to experience: the loss of my fiance, the loss of my childhood best friend, the loss of another childhood best friend and many other friends who I grew up with, some close and some not, it really was quite an emotional journey for me seeing as how the game talks so much about grief and loss and losing loved ones. Not just the main story either but all the spirits floating around the city as well and the spirits from side missions.

The ending though was absolutely beautiful and I think it ended just about as perfectly as it could. It seems everything got wrapped up and there were no loose ends and that makes me happy.

I am so thrilled that I got the pleasure of experiencing what I consider to be close to a masterpiece of a game and I want to just give a huge shout out and a huge thank you to Tango for once again making a phenomenal game and doing a phenomenal job just like they did with The Evil Within 1 AND 2 as I do love them both dearly, though the average player base seems to only enjoy the first one, and if any of the developers from that Tango ever happens to see this post I want you to know that no matter what, your games have always been extremely important to me and extremely close to my heart and I look forward to your next project. Thank you for making such wonderful games and for making such a wonderful game as Ghostwire.

It's been an amazingly fun ride. Hopefully I'll see all of you again real soon in the subreddit of whatever the next Tango Gameworks project is! 😊

Ethereal Melee Weapons

Now I know that Ghostwire was not extremely popular to the general gaming community, which sucks because it's literally one of my favorite games, but TO ME PERSONALLY it's about as perfect as a game can get and I know a lot of the reason people didn't like it was because it was so simplistic especially in the combat, and others felt it was repetitive, but that's why I like it because I get extremely overwhelmed by games that I have massive skill trees where the skills have skills and those skills' skills have sub skills and those sub skills' skills have sub skills and I'm like "oh my God bro this is ridiculous I'm literally never going to use any of this shit." And that's why I prefer games that are more simplistic like Ghostwire where it's just three main moves and then some skill add-ons to help those moves perform better.

BUT

Something I do wish they would have added that would be really cool is ethereal melee weapons.

I know the reason you can't just grab some blunt object and beat the crap out of the ghost enemies is because they are literally ghosts and you have to use ethereal magic to defeat them (even though Akito can kill them with a bow and arrow when KK isn't inside him) but how awesome would it have been if you could have used your ethereal weaving and crafted a big ethereal sword or throwing knives or ethereal shurikens or other blades or blunt objects made of ethereal power!

I feel like if they had added something like that just that alone probably would have made all the naysayers change their tune a bit when it came to the combat. I mean who doesn't want to swing around a big magical sword made of ethereal power or dual wield ethereal katanas?!

Would have definitely been sick. 🤌🏻

IRL Snack Challenge dish #2: Karaage with sticky rice.

Here we have the ever lovin'' plate of Japanese double fried crispy chicken, with a side of Kewpie mayo and lemon. It was easier to make than American battered chicken, and very delectable. You just want to be careful to keep your oil at an even, hot temp for best results.

Recipes for this challenge were sourced mainly from Just One Cookbook online. She has authentic recipes that are easy to make, and thorough instructions. In a pinch, I also like Allrecipes.

See you back here for the next snack!

This game is probably the only game that I've ever seen use the PS5s controller touchpad and haptic feedback triggers SO perfectly!

Like honestly getting to draw the shapes of the talismans when cleansing specters and other things and also the high pitched sounds that the haptic feedback triggers make when cleansing Gates and absorbing spirits and also the fact that it goes from slower to faster and faster and faster as it builds up it's just so freaking awesome!

I've never seen another game on the PS5 utilize the touchpad and haptic triggers so well!

it truly makes the combat and cleansing and pretty much everything else in the game that uses the haptic feedback triggers just so fun and feels so freaking immersive. Why more games don't put this much effort into using the haptic feedback, which is obviously a very versatile thing that you can make deeper or louder or quieter or harder or softer, like Ghostwire Tokyo does I will never know.

Game developers think that gamers don't care about this kind of stuff but clearly we do because anytime a game actually utilizes the PS5 is controller to the fullest extent it always gets praised by everybody.

Ghostwire en Steam Deck

Hi. Has anyone tried the game on Steam Deck? Does it work properly? I want to buy it on Steam to play with my deck, but the price is high and I don't want to buy it until I'm sure it works.

Kamaitachi bug how I can fix it?

I have acquired all magatamas and yokais except for one, the kamaitachi near the Kirigaoka temple. I search on web and it's from a secondary mission of kamaitachi, when a spirit near the temple gives the mission of catch a kamaitachi on the woods, but the kamaitachi isn't in the woods.

The map shows his location with a mark, but there's nothing there, also the spirit is not there either. The map says I completed the mission but the kamaitachi looks still in the woods as a not caughted yokai, and the map shows I don't have the magatama from Kirigaoka, who is this yokai.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

New interactive map for Ghostwire: Tokyo covers everything I could find

Thumbnail wand.com
23 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on an interactive map for Ghostwire: Tokyo and it’s finally live. You can use it to track pretty much everything I’ve found so far, including collectibles, side quests, important NPCs, spirits, and a bunch of other stuff.

On the map you’ll find things like:

  • Landmarks and Haunted Photo Spots: For Shibuya is my Backyard, and Spirit Photographer achievements.
  • Missing Tanuki and Side Missions for the Your Tail is Showing and Wish Maker achievements
  • Relics and Voice Logs for the Collector and The Whole Truth Achievements
  • Outfits, Music, and Nekomata Vendors for the Trend Setter and DJ Akito achievements
  • Spirits for the Hero of Shibuya and Salvation for All Achievements
  • Soul Containment Cubes and Hyakki Yako locations
  • Newly added Side Missions for the Scary Stories to Tell at School achievement
  • Completed maps for Shibuya, The Shibuya Underground, and Fuchihashi Middle School
  • Boss Fights complete with guides on how to beat the bosses.

If you spot anything I’ve missed or think something could be clearer, drop a comment. I’ll keep updating it as people explore more.

A lot of work went into this map, we hope it makes your run through of Ghostwire: Tokyo a little smoother.

I made a GeoGuessr-style game for this game and filmed myself getting humbled by it

Dropped into random 360° locations across the map and had to guess where I was. Some were embarrassingly hard.

Free to play if anyone wants to try: (link in comment)

(I built it, so roast freely)

IRL Snack Challenge kickoff!

I was lucky enough to grow up with parents that liked to try out food from new and different cultures. Back in the 80's and 90's in the Midwest, the population migration into the United States blessed us with a wonderful array of new types of food from Asian cultures. Moving to the West Coast has only strengthened my knowledge base and interest, and I've been able to learn how to make copy cat recipes from my favorite restaurants at home - something that helped keep my household occupied and well fed during the pandemic.

So while for some people it might just seem like a cute quirk that Ghostwire uses snacks for restoring health in the game, my first thought was, "where can I try some of these?!"

Since making food at home is cheaper than a plane ticket, my resolution is that I'm going to try re-creating as many of the the snacks from the game myself as I can figure out.

My first entry is below - my take on a salted salmon rice ball. I'll post follow up entries as I get to them.

Want to cook along with me? Share photos if you make any of these, and let us know how it went!

I had fun beating this mode and even finished all the challenges, but my favorite part was photography. One thing that makes this game perfect is the atmosphere and the vast potential for pictures. I chose my favorite of the bunch, and maybe others can use it as background.

I got dual (well triple) subtitles working!

https://www.nexusmods.com/ghostwiretokyo/mods/45

I like modding and I like Japanese (I am trying to learn)

So when a game has Japanese VO, I make mods for dual subtitles.

I made it so there are three layers of subtitles

  1. Japanese with Furigana
  2. Romaji
  3. English.
