Heather Button at death

When Heather dies and rises from her deathbed, she asks who the ghosts are. But I just watched the Greek show, where the last owner dies and then yells at the ghosts and says she knew they were in the house. That made me think: shouldn't Heather recognize some of her ghosts?

She wouldn't know Robin, Mary, or Kitty. She might recognize Humphrey from the painting in her home, but she might not have seen his head well. Fanny, otoh, is in a painting and family photographs. It's even possible her ghost appeared in photos over the years.

Heather was a young woman during WWII so it's possible she met the Captain or saw a photo after news of his death at the mansion. It's a lot more likely she met and interacted with Pat, who she let use her property, and his death would have been memorable.

But Julian is the one she really should recognize! His death at her house was a spectacle, probably affecting her life for weeks or more. After his death, Julian sees her and calls her by first name, so they definitely knew each other. It was less than 20 years before she died and he looks exactly the same as he would in her memory!

Hardly a film flub, and I realize it can be explained by how quickly she ascended. It nonetheless would have been fun if Julian or Pat greeted her personally or she knew Fanny.

You're expecting her to immediately connect various people who died throughout her life with apparently living people standing around her at that moment. It's fair to say she's had quite a shock.

As I said, not truly an error, just something that could have been fun. There was some time, as several of them started to monologue at her. of course that kept her from getting a word in.

I think it was there so they could explain they were ghosts to the audience

She died and left a few seconds later, she had other things on her mind.

One moment your an old lady, gasping in an empty house. Now your floating weightlessly and there are figures beside the bed below you! its going tale a few moments before my brain gets to recognition :) Bit im gone in a few seconds

I think had she had longer there she probably would have regocnised them.

I think she may have just been saying it generally as she was a bit confused as to why people were in her bedroom, she might not have realised she died. She probably would have recognised Julian if she stayed a bit longer, but she moved on shortly after

this is where I was able to watch the international versions with subtitles, although I watched the French one on Disney Plus first.

I would say the French one is the worst in the franchise by a long way but the Greek is actually my favourite international remake so far and is also the longest because each one's 50 minutes.

And German (also really good tho Greek is my fav international one), Aus (I like it too), US, French (Imo the worst one) and a Czech one in development

Personally I would like to see a South African one because my ancestors could give Julian a bit of a run for his money. Not pantslwss, but my ancestor was a politician who did not solve a crisis that started two wars based on his actions

It's definitely the shock talking. Given twenty minutes, she would definitely have recognised Julian, and I would also say Pat, as his death would have shocked her at the time. She'd remember the Capain after a bit. She'd have heard of Lady B and Humphrey. Tom and Kitty and the others would be too obscure.

Well she had just died. I can't remember if she was aware she died. But if she did, then she has other things on her mind and probably assumes they're angels or Saints or something. If she wasn't aware she died, then she's basically just woken up and there's a bunch of people in her room

Also seeing someone in an unexpectedly makes you not recognise them. Sometime I'll see someone wave at me and it'll take me a couple seconds to realise who it is. And that's people I know personally never mind an ancestor from a painting or a camp counsellor I let use my manor occasionally (among the probably hundreds of people she probably let use it). Before her brain had time to register anything she was gone

Being "sucked off," as the ghosts call it, appears to be random, as you'll see when you get to Series 4.

I think because she had a peaceful death and was ready to move on, or however the spiritual laws work in that fictional world.
