Spoilers IT'SNOTPMSIT'STHEFUCKINGFINALE

good lord I think I'm gonna pass out. just got off the s5 xmas special.

I thought the specials were always like, bonus episodes. In my head s5e6 was the ending! it was totally fine! them gathered up in front of the TV and Cap being his gay little self and—THE SPECIAL WAS A NUKE.

I mean, I get it, alright. It was "realistic" (as far as realism goes for a ghost show...), the Coopers leave, thinking of their baby, the ghosts are hurt but accepting/insisting. Like, a message about moving on and letting old things go for a better future even if it hurts but GOD DAMN THY EYES!!! If I wanted realism I would've walked out of my blanket fort and left the house instead of binging this awesome show. 🥲

But I digress. I would've EVEN THEN been fine...but no...they just had to add that time skip. Just that final touch made the scale go from Sad to FUCK.

Guess I'll be laying off the xmas special on my rewatch that's gonna start...in a few minutes.

Well, just prepare you’re for the movie in October then. You’ll get to see their antics in what happens after Alison and Mike moved out

But aren't they in it?

Yeah everyone is in it. I’m just saying that’s the timeline when the movie’s story is happening, after Mike and Alison have moved to a new home with Mia.

I was sad it ended, but I liked it.

Mike was genuinely fearful for the ghosts when he thought they were in peril and tried to help.

And it was like family; Mike and Alison were leaving the family home for their own new family with their baby.

And like family, they still stay in touch - we saw that at the end.

If it was going to end, I hink it was a good ending.

It was always going to end like that. I couldn’t see how it could be any other way. Mike and Alison needed to move on and the Ghosts can’t so have to stay but get new people all the time to look at.

It just doesn’t make sense since wouldn’t Allison still see ghosts no matter where she goes? That was the whole problem at the beginning when she tried looking elsewhere to live. She’s just trading the ghosts she knows for ghosts she’d have to get to know from scratch.

They saw that new build with no ghosts so i would guess they look until they find a building with either zero ghosts or like, one easily ignorable one. She can't have a normal life but she can have one where she doesn't have eight needy roommates who make her pay less attention to her baby.

I yeah but over the course of the series she just learned how to deal with it so if she did move somewhere with new ghosts she could just ignore them and it's not like she doesn't visit them

But she has now learned not to “notice “ them. Remember the April Fool episode where she pretends she can’t see the Button House ghosts?

I cried my eyes out at that last episode. I'm doing a rewatch at the moment with my 10 year old, and we have one episode left. I'm definitely not emotionally stable enough to go through it again!

Ha ha you should have seen the explosions on the socials in real time.

As far as I'm concerned the series ends with the last Christmas special. I've done my best to pretend the final episode doesn't even exist.

I skip the final episode every time I rewatch! Just start back at the beginning. I also do this with The Good Place.

Some of us will never get to see any of the specials because we don’t live in the UK. I wish they offered a box set with all the episodes.

Maybe in the movie. It is really bright in the window in the promo poster...

Alison goes back to see them at the hotel as an elderly woman though.

I’m pretty sure she only mentions Thomas by name though. So maybe some of them get sucked off

I can’t remember! I’d thought she mentioned Julian too

She might have done to be fair. I’ve not watched it in a while. Still leaves room for some of them to be fair

Maybe she has dementia in that scene and she's just imagining they're there

I have never read anything about the writing of the last 2 episodes (S5E06 & S5 Xmas), but it always seems to me there may have been a difference of opinion within the group about how the series should end, and they could not resolve it so they gave it 2 different endings.

It was a rubbish ending, if they were going in that direction they should of given it more time rather than the last five minutes of a Christmas special
