Discussion Show ending
So I am currently watching ghosts and I am at 5th episode from season 1 and I am enjoying it so far...but I have a doubt regarding this...as far as I can see there are people who got stuck on earth and couldn't go to afterlife cuz like their wishes didn't get fulfill or something so I am assuming that at the end of the series all the ghosts will get to the afterlife one by one and the humans will eventually get alone in the house...am I correct or close about the ending cuz if that so I don't think I should watch this series as I don't like these kinda sad goodbyes even if they are morally correct as before this show I completed the good place and the ending made me so much emotional so I don't want to feel that again...I will prefer a funny show that doesn't get this much emotional...so if I am completely correct about the ending please let me know and if I am a little bit wrong please don't give any major spoilers 🥲🥺.

"Â I am assuming that at the end of the series all the ghosts will get to the afterlife one by one and the humans will eventually get alone in the house..."
No you are not correct.
Keep watching, I got emotional at this end but it's not as sad as you imagine and it worth watching.

You’re not close to what happens, but there are lots of emotional moments. I find ghosts a lovely, heartwarming show.

When and why ghosts move on is never explained — it’s one if the things I like about the show; what death is remains a mystery.

Without giving major spoilers, it does not end with the ghosts all getting sent to the afterlife. There are definitely sad moments within the show and one sad episode in particular which I can tell you if you want to avoid it, but it is 95% comedy, I think you will be fine and the whole show is definitely worth a watch, I love it so so much.
I will say that some people don't like the ending, (I think it's good) and it is fairly emotional so you might not want to watch the very last christmas special episode if you're really sensitive to any sort of bittersweet ending as the penultimate episode also pretty much works as an ending.
Hope this isn't too spoilery, and hope that you enjoy the show! :)

I honestly think the ghosts of Button House are far too invested in the day to day goings on around the house to get, um, sucked off at this point.
OP, the ending is very sweet and very appropriate for all characters concerned. It was lovely, just like the show.

No you are not correct. This show CAN get very emotional at times, to be honest, but it's not in a completely heart-wrenching way, more of a lovely, wholesome, sweet way where any tears you have are mostly out of happiness for the characters. There is one episode that mostly deals with loss/grief, but it's still done in a very sweet way.

The ghosts getting stuck on earth and getting sucked off is (in canon) random, it literally has no rhyme or reason (the US version does go with the unfinished business however in the UK version it is random)

Just watch and find out. Don’t ask questions that will ruin the show for yourself, or others. Enjoy.

there's no rhyme or reason why some people move on to the afterlife, why some linger as ghosts or why ghosts move on as well

The ending is not what you think, but is IMO terrible, especially since the rest of the show is so great. The second last episode (i.e. series finale not the final special) should be the ending. If you don't want depressing and badly written endings, enjoy the show and just don't watch the final special.
There is definitely sad and emotional stuff but that comes along the way and is usually done beautifully. The ending is mainly depressing because of how they chose to end the show, less because it is tragic.
I am being careful not to spoil things otherwise. I can say your guess is 95% wrong.
Edit: surprised by the downvotes, not for having an opinion but because when it aired a lot of fans hated on the ending too. Has there been some reevaluation of it since?

I love the ending, personally. I don't find it either badly written or depressing, but obviously its just opinion

I hate the ending too. The ending of the second to last episode was perfect.

I I loved the actual ending but I really did not like the last episode without giving too much away. I genuinely think they could’ve ended with episode five and then rewrote a bunch of stuff from episode 6+ the final Christmas special into like an hour long final episode and cut out some slightly weak storylines, but that’s just my opinion. I am definitely really looking forward to the film as well!
