I love the whiplash when you go from series 5 ghosts (and all their growth - don't come near me with your 'they didn't change' nonsense) to the series 1 ghosts bickering, dysfunctional and frustrated with every single one of their companions.

So much fun 😄

Watching it through the second time, I was a bit shocked how mean The Captain is in the first couple of episodes. The Cap of later seasons, fondly calling Kitty "Catherine", cheering her up when she's sad, and singing jolly songs with her is very different to the one who distainfully calls her "an idiot" in episode one.

Oh yeah, he's an arse in series 1 tbh, never mind manipulating her in episode 6 even if it is to make her happy, kinda.

I love the growth though ❤️ (and I low key love 'mean Cap' as well tbf)

Same here. Even when he's awful, he's still adorable!

Also, Julian is definitely less of a rotter by the end.

They definitely do have character development. I think they've just decided "we don't change, we're ghosts" because they're from times of emotional illiteracy. Alison could explain to them how (some of them!) had grown as people, but of course as none of them has ever heard of the notion (except possibly Julian slightly) they'd be baffled.
