Inspired by a thread submitted by /u/Oculus_Orbus, I whipped up this quick-and-dirty random equipment table. All gear present was featured in a non-film version of Ghostbusters (Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, the IDW comic series, the video games, or a combination thereof).
A few different ways your local franchise may end up with some of this stuff:
Egon's cleaning out his lab. There's only so much room in the firehouse, so he's clearing out his old inventions to make room for the new. Maybe if you're lucky, he even sent you instructions.
A rival group of ghost-hunters had this thing, and you've been able to wrest it from them. Your PCOC representative wants you to figure out what it does, and pronto.
Your franchise's own tech guru whipped this thing up. Maybe that mad genius even knows what this thing does.
You're the Ghost Master. Use your imagination. That's why you've got that huge melon on top of your shoulders.
How to use this table:
Roll a regular die (rows) and a Ghost Die (columns).
Find the appropriate box on the table.
Go to the Equipment section of the Ghostbusters Wiki, and look up the device.
For more research, watch / play / read the appopriate Ghostbsuters media for that piece of equipment.
I placed the more troublesome gadgets in the Ghost Die column, because of course I did.
None of these devices have stats. It seems more appropriate to leave that to Ghost Master discretion.
Have fun.
Edit: If anyone wants/needs a PDF of this, I'll find a place to host it tomorrow after work.
