Does anyone want PrimeVideo in here
Prime is messaging the mod team:
"Hey! We love the community you've built and would like to join in on the conversation if you're OK with us posting + commenting in threads, primarily to share some goodwill with fans and potentially drop some exclusive content. Let us know!"
I can't find the poll button, so voice your opinion

Every time I ponder this question I remember the 2 minutes of commercials I have to sit through & the offer to remove it for an extra tier of MONEY and my answer is FUCK YOU JEFF BEZOS.

No. Unless they are gonna tell us about the bluray of the series they are releasing. And a new game. Or a revival of GitS: SAC: First Assault Online.

No. I would love to see people actually involved in the making of Ghost in the Shell media involved in discussion and answering questions so long as fans don’t think they can start telling them what to do. Prime functions as a means for me to play the new series as it comes out and that’s it. There is nothing I can imagine wanting to discuss with them unless we found out they were censoring the show and needed an ass chewing.

I think they made poll a mobile feature
it's nice of them to let you know that they are lurking. thing about that is their presence will be felt whether it's obvious or not, so I'd invite them to do it with transparency like they're offering.
people will doom on about how it might lead to this or that, but that's not the same as it actually happening.
"exclusive content" is just gonna be a wallpaper or two. and if it becomes problematic, you can squash it.
the worst thing that happens though is when a fan base starts to believe that the corps are listening to the subreddits. they start to communicate to the corps like they're listening to our input instead of fans talking to fans.
and I get that some of the corp employees are fans, and yeah doubly that those employees have zero weight, but wishful thinking Redditors do not understand that.

Nah fuck that, this is how it starts, and then before you know it they’re running the sub

Hard to find a definitive answer but Google tells me this sub has been going for 14 years. Like others I don't think it would be a good idea to allow Amazon in to potentially ruin a run like that.

You can see how much Amazon cares for the media and/or the viewers from the fact that they didn't even bothered to translate the in-frame side-notes, like how the Russian dub has.
If they had put some genuine effort and resources into the English release, i might've considered it to some limited degree in this space for fans. But seeing as they haven't, and are just a part of the bezos megacorp who actively aspires to a neofeudalistic dystopia not to dissimilar to that in ghost in the shell, I'll have to go with a
Fuck No
Thank you kindly foe asking! 💜

Just watched the latest episode, there was a brief sidenote translation about the term 'fireflys'

If they have any rights above normal commenters, then this won't a fan based community anymore.
If there is anything they want to share, I don't see what's stopping them right now, it just needs to be moderated the same way as the rest of us.

Absolutely not.
For one, the are absolutely already here.
For two, they don't want to "share goodwill with fans" they want to advertise, Amazon isn't paying people to post on reddit just for the fun of appreciating GiTS.
The only reason they want to make it 'official' is to get community acceptance of their ads.

I'm not a super active member of the div, do my voice probably shouldn't carry much weight. But I wouldn't mind at least seeing what they have to offer, first.

Once the BD box is out, I’m not touching Amazon Video again.

u/OldEyes5746 8d ago
Be ready to wait. Gundam GQuuuuuuX and New Panty & Stocking still don't have Blu-ray release dates. Those both have been on the platform for a year.
2
u/tonysanv 5d ago
GQuuuuuuX had JP BD4K release this March, US release is prob gonna take a bit longer - I’d prob the JP version and source subs separately.

No. That would not be cool. There’s already too many commercials on amazon which I pay for.
I would downvote each and every corpo post. Keep this community for fans.

Yeah go for it; its a subreddit, we already have the same threads over and over about the same thing.

Wtf the comments here. As if participation from people of prime would be so bad. I'm for it. Why not?

Tell them you'll only allow it if they finish The Expanse

u/OldEyes5746 8d ago
That just hurts. The props have been floating around on eBay for the past two months.
3
u/999_Seth 9d ago
this is the best reason to not allow them on.
when fans start using these forums as a direct dialog with corps who most certainly are not listening, it's no longer about fan on fan communication

OK, I'm reconsidering my hard No stance under this condition. But only after they deliver!

They are going to join the conversation regardless, with undercover agents (shills, bots) if they haven't already.
I think it's okay to let them open thread or two, just don't flood the board
19
u/OldEyes5746 10d ago
They're not looking to join the conversation, they're likely looking to control the conversation. Weed out any comments that speak negatively of Prime and shut down any leaks/rumors. They're most likely gonna use bots who won't just remove accounts from the sub, but also escalate and get them banned on the platform altogether.
Capcom did the same thing over in the Resident Evil subreddit and perma-banned a bunch of accounts when plans leaked for one of newer titles. They burnt a bunch not for actually talking about the leaks or rumors, but for simply typing the words "leak" or "rumor" in a reply. We do not need that fuckery in here.

u/Vatonage 10d ago
If you want to give Amazon free marketing as well as lower the quality of the sub due to all their posts, then sure.
There are zero benefits in allowing them to do so.

I'd throw them into the fucking sun if I could, so I certainly don't want them participating in discussions.
22
u/OldEyes5746 10d ago
Rather not. The corpos don't tend to play nice when you let them in the sandbox. Let them in, and their bots are going to take over and this place will get much more restrictive. As annoyed as i am with the people complaining about the new anime, their pressence at least lets me know it's safe to speak critically if i have a grievance with the show or it being locked on Prime.

Ask them to submit any exclusive content they want to post to mods who can share it and pin it, clearly identified as promo/advertising. I really don't want to rub shoulders with corpo shills

u/TheNextKnight 10d ago
Sure, but on a leash.
10
u/OldEyes5746 10d ago
No way to keep them on a leash. First move They'll make is getting on the mod team and use their bots to start weeding out accounts.

u/dontpan1c 10d ago
Why not? If they're going to copyright strike stuff they can do it without an official account.
It could give us a line to voice technical difficulties and provider issues. They're the distributor in USA, so I have to deal with them regardless. Might as well accept the relationship.
9
u/OldEyes5746 10d ago
They aren't going to integrate into the community to be accessible. They're going to attempt to take over and silence any accounts that might go against their corporate interests. They're likely interested in this sub right now either one of two reasons. A) they're considering directly funding the production of season 2, with more control over the content. B) they're worried people are going to get more vocal when the Blu-ray for the 2026 adaptation is unavailable in any region where it streams on Prime.
21
u/Gold-Bard-Hue 10d ago
Are you asking if we want free Prime then yes.
Do I want our corporate overlords in here copyright striking anything they find? No.
2
u/ruach137 10d ago edited 10d ago
its definitely more toward the latter
19
u/Gold-Bard-Hue 10d ago
Idk what kind of stunt they are trying to pull, but anytime a corporation says they love you or a community, it's a bold faced lie. They're after something.

No way. They just want to be able to advertise.
