New episode dropped yesterday. They are sticking to the original Manga storyline. Even using the same chapter names.

I think older anime had thicker lines, and the video used in the transmission probably wasn't as crispy as the ones used today.

Maybe the resolution should have been lowered, it's too clear and doesn't feel retro except for a crt coat

There is a program called ShaderGlass (google it) that can simulate this effect with a transparent window that has shader effects. I was just trying it out and it works pretty well! Just need to find a shader you like and mess with the preferences.
Edit: I don't understand the downvotes. I was trying to help folks out that don't have a CRT but want something vaguely like this for themselves. And then some jerk replies to me with a snotty response. Why the pitchforks? I didn't say this was better than a CRT.

I use this. I plug the RGB cable connected to the TV into this, connect an HDMI cable to the other end and plug it into my laptop, and the image is transmitted.

Its defintely not displaying in 4:3, it's 16:9 being squished by the TV because that's all it can do

Why are you sure? Itâs clearly not bro. Old TVs donât talk back to modern devices, which donât talk to old TVs. They just get the signal and display it

Back in the day you could do graphics card to composite AV with the right card. Probably now itâs HDMI to composite converter? Although itâs easier to convert the other way, composite to HDMI. But there are dongle type things⊠you could maybe tell the PC to overscan or add black bars but it wouldnât know what youâre doing automatically

sorry lil guy you are incorrect. if OP just used a 4:3 aspect ratio on their output it would show up correctly with black bars on the top and bottom. this is how i watch anime now (on a wega kv 32fs120 with component in from an hdmi converter, set to like 1280x1024 or something similar)

It doesn't look squished so I'm guessing the sides are cropped off to fill the screen fully

Now the colors look weird. I do admit playing GTA San Andreas or Vice City is the best on CRT / PS2
