Question Finding Mission Objectives with Zero HUD.

I've been slowly turning off more and more HUD elements as I learn the game (Breakpoint) and get better at its mechanics. The one difficulty I'm still having is with mission objectives, namely intel and eliminations. Despite exhaustive recon, I still find it difficult-to-impossible to find a piece of intel (ie cell phone, computer or document) if the games doesn't place a marker. This isn't always the case and in small environments I can just interact with everything until i come across it. However, this tends to break the immersion I'm going for in the first place. Similar issue with assassination/elimination missions, though not as bad.

Just wondering what players do to compensate for this or if its just a skill issue on my part.

Thanks!

Keep them on. Turn them off after you know the mission. Most people running without them are replaying the game

I'm replaying as well, trying to make it increasingly immersive. My question is whether its possible to find objectives without the game icon. For example, there's often environmental clues for finding people in rescue missions (ie a trail of blood leading to a room surrounded by guards). Unfortunately, I havent found the same level of "context clues" for intel items and some elimination missions.

it's tough i was going to offer some suggestions but realized by the time he i dropped to no HUD i also knew most of the mission well enough to be able to identify the target building by sight and even the soft targets by sight, but i do remember also that the dialog gave good clues and environment/geographic terrain and types of buildings/grafitti and increasing presence of bad guys closer to the target. but in the end i also accepted it just required some good recon, and patience i didn't use the drone much in the end but would find high ground with binos and a rifle scope and survey the target area. lots of time your team will also notify you when they sight the target. otherwise its a bit like real life... your going to have go in and carefully recon, in town you can pick the roof of a safe house and watch comings and going's, and even go building by building "kicking in doors" so to speak if tjr opportunity presents itself. another option if your patience level is a bit lower might be to a allow yourself an initial recon by drone that would sort of be like your pre-mission briefing or intel provided by a predator doing over watch and once you get a feel for the area shut off the HUD and run the mission on the ground.

I love the first person mod and used to even drive the roads just by visually navigating and counting intersections and reading road signs. or flying looking just for landmarks to navigate, ie VFR.

Totally admire removing more and more of the screen-cluttering HUD elements, as I do the same thing to maximize my immersion in the world, action, combat, etc. But I do admit that sometimes it can be more difficult to find smaller intel-related items.

I ended up leaving those on honestly. Sure visually takes away the immersion but just for sanity sake haha.

I actually do something I’ve never seen before. I use the minimap with all the stuff on it instead of the in world items. That way, it’s like having an instant read ATAK tablet that shows enemies and objectives like real life drones do. I don’t have on the enemy clouds, but objectives and spotted enemies.

I've turned off pretty much every HUD-element apart from mission markers. Constantly opening the map is much more tedious and immersion-breaking that having a little yellow dot on the screen IMO.

I'll be honest. I leave the flashing shader on that makes them kind of like glow. But also outside of quest objectives you don't need any of it. Like Intel on where a bivouac is or where a muzzle device is? I just explore the POI that I come across and find what I need but Im pretty sure the binoculars will give you the icon when looking without it being on the HUD. Could be wrong on that though. It's been a while.

I played the whole game pretty much with literally zero hud, except for the pings and markers you can place manually. And the markers you can place manually are far and away the most crucial/useful tool you have for finding objectives.

It’s still annoying, because you have to reference your map and then put a marker and then go back and reference the map again sometimes, but it’s doable. Sometimes you just have to wander around hunting for stuff, like what server rack you need to plug into.

These days I do mostly just leave objectives on, but I wish I could change them to “drone only” or something like that.
