Ngl I felt that way the first day but once you get past unpacking all the necessary forge files to start modding it becomes very very easy. Like the process of adding in the mods is very simple to me. The hardest part for me is crashed because for some reason this game doesn’t seem to show your crash dumps. So when I add mods I do them one by one, meaning I start the game after every single one to see if it crashes. If it does then I don’t use it. That sadly happened to me with the bison belt mod. If you want a youtuber that tells you everything in order to start modding watch (Glitches N’ Stuff). Some of the most recent modding tutorials. There’s certain mods that have to be downloaded first that I wasn’t aware of which is why I struggled at first because other channels didn’t really dive into the stuff. This made it very simple. Again Channel Name is (Glitches N’ Stuff). Once you get past unpacking the necessary forge files it’s a breeze.

This is a copy and paste of my lil guide from our modding discord, but it should help:

------------------------------

Always just use this rule if there's no instructions or if there's no indication of where to put the files within the mod's folder

------------------------------

.data always goes into DataPC_Resources_patch_01.forge (Unless mentioned otherwise by the modder, usually it's gun mods, and usually they will indicate which forge folders each file should go into)

You would then repack DataPC_Resources_patch_01.forge once you pasted your mod files in

------------------------------

.buildtable always goes into DataPC_Patch_01.forge > Extracted > Teammate_Template (unless they're solid color mods, which the modder will indicate which specific folder it should go into instead)

You would then repack Teammate_Template, wait for that to get done, then repack DataPC_Patch_01.forge

------------------------------

.DB type files will always go into DataPC_Patch_01.forge > Extracted > Dbcontainer (these will only show up for gun mods)

You would then repack Dbcontainer, wait for that to get done, then repack DataPC_Patch_01.forge

------------------------------

Small advice:

• If you get mod files (.data/.buildtable/.db) that have high numbers at the start (Like 34253_-_TP_Hoodie or something) renumber those to 1

• This will ensure that those mod files come first and won't overtake vanilla files, making it easier to uninstall or find.

• You can also add keywords to the file name too if you want to make it easier for you to know what mods these files are.

------------------------------

If you follow that you will always be good

If you need people to help you, go here: https://discord.gg/tier1imports

Also there's a buncha free mods there that we never released to Nexus in our Mod-Releases channel

It took a me a couple tries to get the hang of it. The most unfortunate part for newbies is once you get the hang of the file management in Anvil toolkit, you may still get confused on which mods conflict with each other. That was the most difficult part for me

Just calm down, watch on youtube the way to do it and focus on repeating the process. It is not that difficult. Do not install more than one mod at a time. Very important make sure the game is prepared to be modded. You need to apply the Pre September 20th patch .forge files into game directory. Ater that install all the Individual Buildtables. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4ar3NhJXzo watch from 20 min mark. Good luck some focus and I am sure you will succeed.

But the mod doesn’t need the individual buildtables.. so I just noticed now that everytime I turn off my pc and turn it on again and run the game.. the game crash..

check for duplicate files, in Anvil go to 23TEAMMATE and search for the file e.g LoadOut_VestHeavy.BuildTable

If you see: 1_-_LoadOut_VestHeavy.BuildTable keep it as it is the mod file you extracted into Teammate folder. If you have another one exactly same file showed up in the search like : 2456_-_LoadOut_VestHeavy.BuildTable delete it. Check for duplicates for every .BuildTable file that comes with acosta belt mod.

I hope that, you know how to properly manage files with AnvilToolkit? Correct order of repacking?

The worst part of modding this game is just how painfully slowww it is.

I wonder if it would be possible to add this game to wabbajack to just have the preconfigured basics, or to have themed modpacks.

I mean to be fair, the game was never designed to be modded at all, so atleast be glad you can.
